Thank you, Sacramento SPCA, for doing so much with so little. It is noticed and very appreciated. We adopted our beloved Clara from this shelter nine years ago. We were incredibly blessed to have her in our lives; We thank Sacramento SPCA for taking a chance on tiny Clara by saving her from the streets. Clara was a quiet girl with an uncertain behavioral history but quickly found comfort and love in our house. She lived a happy, healthy, fun-filled life surrounded by people who loved her for nine wonderful years. We would not be the same without Clara in our lives; Thank you so much for your work and assistance to these homeless pets. Thank you for saving Clara so that we could take her home and assisting in her medical needs.

Had to put my 18 yr old kitty down last Friday. The staff was so great. It was a lot more emotional than I had imagined. But they gave me plenty of time to say our goodbyes. My doggie misses her the most. Thank you all. She was a rescue from the SPCA 18 years ago. Her 4yr old doggie brother is also a rescue. 😭

Told us our kitten was given to the wrong person, meanwhile she was in a different building. Only one gal was helpful, ONE (and she was SO SWEET). This is no way to run a business. Yikes. Just glad I have my cat now and never have to deal with that mess again. They also gave someone else the microchip to my cat, said the price was 110 so I gave the girl 120 and she gave me a receipt that said the charge was only 100 and I didn't not get change back. Perfect example of why you shouldn't let a bunch of friends fresh out of high school manage an office :)

We took our girl scout troop here for a field trip and had a wonderful, informative time. Friendly staff and a facility that was clean and organized. My heart broke walking through the 'big dog' holding area. So many sad eyes. We adopted our dog from the SPCA a few years ago and used their 'matchmaker' program. You specify the type of dog you are looking for, and when one comes into the shelter, they call you and give you first dibs! I encourage everyone to skip the designer dogs and rescue instead!
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
What are the days for low cost shots? Can microchips be done at the same time?
Call whisker warriors! They will give you a spay certificate that you give to the SSPCA for s free spay/ neuter!
About how old are your kittens,an do you have any males, also can you please send me some pics of them?
I need Free or low price pupy rehoming about from 2,3 or 4 month older. Thank you for anser
Hi Terri! Yes you can bring the cat here and there will be no charge for you dropping the cat off. Sadly many cats get very stressed in the environment there even though the staff try their hardest to make them feel comfortable as possible. If you have no other alternative they will be happy to take the kitty for you at no charge.
Honestly, the best way to do it I'd just show up, and make appointment. It takes a while for them to return ur call. Ivd had to just show up to get what I needed handled. Very friendly, and helpful staff.
They do all needed shots
Clinic days are Monday and Tuesday. I called for an appointment to get my cat neutered. I got the senior discount the day of the appointment and rabies shot for free bc my pet was neutered and bc of senior discount
Terri Ray, Here is what I found. There are programs available if you look. Good luck!! :-) ;-) https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/general-pet-care/low-cost-spayneuter-programs
Contact the service with whom the animal is registered. There are several. We use Petlink. I don't think the SPCA can help you with that.
Get a hold of Bailey Hitch she runs rhe volunteer program
The main number but I would also call Animal Control because they're the ones with a law enforcement component
Please visit https://www.sspca.org/donate-page and you can find the in memory section!
I would say that yes the SPCA most of the time has bunnies or rabbits to adopt the number can vary I was just there the other day and they had three or four sometimes they can have many more but I would say your odds of finding a bunny or a rabbit there in either a small number of them are pretty pretty high pretty good chance they will have them for adoption
Not to sure sorry
Scott SSPCA takes 10 walk ins per day Monday through Saturday for Sac & Yolo Co residents only... ALL cats must be in traps & ear tips are mandatory regardless of tame or feral... Check in time is at 7am but lots of people line up very early to get in for those few daily slots... Recently if you get there by 6am you are likely to be in the 1st 10... Line up in your car at the gate on the rightmost driveway & wait for them to open the gates... then follow the other cars around to the back where the bldg w the circular wall is & stand in line according to the # of the car you were in line... Dont take the cat out of the car... After check in at the counter you will drive around to the back of that bldg to drop off the cat... The people bringing in cats are nice & will explain the process if you have ?s. Unless you have a voucher the cost of spay/neuter & rabies & FVRCP vaccinations is $50
Absolutely! Especially specialist items...
You will need to find a veterinarian to do that procedure, the spca will only do it in an emergency for a injured dog that has been turned in to them if the dog is able to be saved! Hope this helps!
Yes, Sac SPCA has a feral cat spay/neuter program that fixes them most Sundays.
There is a link to make appointment on their website.
Call the Shelter, or go on line and check. You can usuall get what you need on line.
They are closed right now. Call them in the morning! They are really a wonderful group of people over there! Just listen to the recorded greeting message, the options & thn press according to what you need! Wish you & th doggie the best!
I would call them first and ask if you surrender her if she's guaranteed an adoption and/or call a bullmastiff /pit rescue organization.. Google for local rescue groups...🐾🐾
We take book donations! Thank you!
You're more than likely better off to take it to the Front Street Animal Shelter; 2127 Front Street 95818 There is a Drop off directly behind the shelter on Front Street inside of a small building the door should be unlocked they have various cages that you can put an animal into. I believe they also have some kind of card to fill out to place on the cage. I'm sorry to say but I don't know exactly how to surrender an Animal to the SPCA.
I think you can just take her in as a surrender. For our Banfield vet, I think it's around $80 for everything. Sorry for your situation...
We have a senior for senior program: people over 65 can adopt a pet 5 years or older for free!
Yes! Anytime I've visited I always look at all the animals and there ALWAYS guinea pigs and rabbits in a little area to the side.
Sorry for your loss. Best thing is call and ask if they can take it.
We do not have animal control officers! You’ll want to call the animal control responsible for the area where the horses are living (Sac City, Sac County, Rancho Cordova, Folsom, West Sac are all different areas with their own animal controls!)
Huh?
I believe they have to be 18 yrs old. You can call and find out
Your guess is as good as mine...lol. They NEVER answer that phone!! 😂 Your best bet is to just go over there.
Not sure. They give you a copy of what shots they do, when you are there and I always save that. So save your copies.
You can find that information on our website at www.sspca.org/vaccinations
Rabies Vaccine: $10 DHPP: $20 Available Mon/Tues from 11-3pm!
Because the FP virus is everywhere in the environment, virtually all kittens and cats are exposed to the virus at some point in their lives. Because the FP virus is everywhere in the environment, virtually all kittens and cats are exposed to the virus at some point in their lives. While cats of any age may be infected with the feline parvovirus that causes FP, young kittens, sick cats, and unvaccinated cats are most susceptible. It is most commonly seen in cats 3-5 months of age; death from FP is more common at this age.
Call the animal control responsible for your area! Sac City: 311 Sac County: (916) 368-7387
Hello, We have a low cost Wellness clinic for mild to moderate treatments. Depending on the illness, we may be able to help! Visit sspca.org/wellness for info!
Yes, we can take open or closed food donations. Thank you!
You can see available animals at www.sspca.org/dogs or www.sspca.org/cats or come in and visit us any time Wednesday through Sunday 11am-6pm!
The SSPCA on Florin Perkins Rd provides this service. Please call them for more information.
You're very sweet I would give them a call I know they're looking for foster homes for these animals that people just have no right having I love people like you I give him a call or check their website thanks for loving animals
Call and speak to the SPCA directly tomorrow about their needs so they can assist you and thank you for your caring heart!!!
Find someone to take the animal for you temporarily.
Dial 311 city of Sacramento. Tell the operator and they'll connect you with someone who can help you. They know what to do with every animal.
I have not yet heard, anything about the beagles being relocated here, 4,000 dogs is INSANE. Those poor pups!
Anytime doing opening hours
No just drop them off anytime during regular hours
As the previous poster Allie mentioned some dogs are sponsored which means they're adoption fee of I believe $110 is covered but you can't count on that most dogs will have that adoption fee and like Allie mentioned their other expenses to having a dog obviously it's a financial and emotional commitment for life so they generally I would say for the SPCA don't give out free dogs no
To my knowledge, SPCA doesn't have a pick up service. But I do know you can take the cat to the spca to the surrender or intake where you can give them the cat
Yes and no you don't
You should call SPCA to arrange a surrender appointment. Please do not just give your pup to anyone who wants it. They are at risk to people who do not know the peculiarities of this breed, as well as people who mean harm. Only a shelter or rescue, please!
You can email the office on their website. They are happy to send you information to print out what you need 😊
The Sacramento SPCA hours of operation for the vaccination of microchip and licensing clinic is actually by appointment only so you need to go on sspca.org to request an appointment due to high demand appointments may be booked out several weeks in advance
Yes you can
No there isn't you have take them to Bradshaw animal shelter
Yes, but most animals have to be surrendered to the SPCA for a fee as they are a nonprofit shelter, not a governmental department that has animal control officers, governmental funding, etc., and I believe the legal responsibility for the area's animals. Those are the Front Street Animal Shelter and Bradshaw Animal Shelter. Those are the appropriate places to take found pets to in most cases, depending on where you live. But the SPCA can scan for microchips to try to find pet owners and point you in the direction of the right shelter that can take the pet if they can't!
They go by your dogs average wait range and charge accordingly
Sac SPCA has a vaccine clinic. Have to make an appt online @ sspca.org
Just what Denise Anderson said. We just adopted Mimi from our sacspca. She is going to have to get used to her new home. Happy she's coming around little by little.
Yes they will they don't turn down any pets you shouldn't have any trouble I found a cat once me and my daughter in the bushes it was just born and we nursed it with little baby bottle with milk everyday three times a day so they'll definitely do that and we had the cat for 3 years and one day she just was gone but sorry about that your question yes they will take the cat take care
I believe there is
If I recall correctly, you get 3 shots (one is for parvo) plus the dewormer....its in ballpark of $45. They offer discount for active or former military (bring proof) or if over 65. They are much more reasonable than the VIP Petcare or vets I checked. Microchipping is $25
6201 Florins Perkins Rd. Sacramento!
I am not sure. Always good to call or send a PM on their FB page for further assistance.
I was on a waiting list for a little bit over a month. They'll still spay if the pet is pregnant but it will cost more
I went online and I'm not sure if it's still the same but I had to pick out a time to meet my pet, adoption process was super easy 20 minutes tops. So yes you do have to make an appointment.
How can I get my male cat neutered for free
Call before you go. I'm sure your donation would be appreciated🤗🐕
They will need to know if you have other dogs at home. If so, they will want you to bring it in and have it meet the dog you would like to adopt. Sometimes certain dogs have sponsors who cover the adoption fee. Good luck.
They have no money for free ones So you have to pay like 100 dollars for dogs
Just call them I'm sure they can rearrange something for you.
I believe $100 ...sometimes there are ftee adoption events...you can check with other animal shelters ( Bradshaw,Front st.)
For a surrender appointment go to sspca.org/intake Also check out their webiste Sspca.org
There is a 7000 person waitlist right now and you can go to www.sspca.org/clinicwaitlist to add yourself it will be about a 6 to 9 month wait
No I don't believe they do but you can get dscount
It's costs.$110 and idk about vets
It's always best to contact them directly.
Not sure what your question is. But it's always best to contact the spca directly for the most accurate answer.
Talk to them they will work with you and your budget
Go to SPCA website and it gives you all the information you are requesting
Try contacting Happy Tails. See if they will take them.
Check the website for current information. Currently taking appointments for all services.
Everything is by appt now. Please call and get one.
Dogs 20 lbs and under are $100, if more than 20 lbs she would be $150. Microchipping is $25. They have several discount programs as well for 20% or 40% off the spay cost.
You can call their clinic to make an appointment and check their rates
I have 8, 5weeks old kittens and there mother me and mom been watching them is it ok to drop off the mother and her 8kittens?
https://www.sspca.org/spayneuterfees most costs are listed here (though this is near where I live). It is heavily dependent on the age, and for dogs, their weight is a factor in how much you will have to pay. Additional charges may apply.
They should be able to, I would think a surgical procedure would stay on record
You are on the wrong website. Go to spca.com
I had a microchip put in my dog and it got infected and I had to have it removed. It doesn't work with all dogs so I got a dog collar with his name on it in my phone number on the back. Now he Jingles everywhere he goes he hates it LOL LOL better than my dog being dead from infection
How old is the 3rd dog? If it's a puppy it may help. I would share your concerns with a SPCA representative. They're great at finding a good mixture and answering some of your questions.
Call 311 and ask for front street shelter They give out vouchers for seniors to spay for free
Free vaccinations for seniors are offered Monday and Tuesday from 11-3pm
Unfortunately we cannot DNA test every dog, so any breed IDs are a best guess!
You should call them in the morning for instructions.
If they are friendly, then they are not "feral" cats. If you have been feeding them for over 30 days then they are considered your cats and can be surrendered (with an appointment and surrender fee). If they come and go as they please, they might be community cats that have several different houses that they go to for food and love, in which case you should NOT bring them to a shelter as they are doing just fine on their own. You could help them by ensuring they are spayed/neutered to stop any additional kitties from being born. The website says "If you find a friendly, healthy cat, we ask that you please leave it be." https://www.sspca.org/foundcat
Email. It takes time. They will call back
Hi Noel! You’re welcome to get a hold of us a few different ways. Unfortunately the number of calls we receive far exceeds the number of staff available as a non-profit animal shelter. You can also try: -Visiting our website for information on animals, programs and services. -coming down in person Wed-Sun 11am-6pm -Messaging us on our social media platforms -leaving a message on our voicemail system. Depending on the reason for your call, callbacks may take some time. We can receive hundreds of spay/neuter and surrender calls a day.
I dont understand the question
Our selection of animals available for adoption changes from day to day (as with all shelters). Puppies do come in but are adopted very quickly. Visit Sspca.org/dogs to see the current dogs available for adoption!
Hey G, the staff there are Slammed. Plus they just got volun-told to do Loads of spay/nueters for the county. They don't have a full time phone person. Going down there is your best bet for an appointment. If you can't find answers to questions, as Andrew says, their website is full of info. All of my own questions were answered online. I then went down and made an appointment in person. In and out in 10 minutes.
Personally, I would go on the dog sites! There may even be one for husky's! And see if you can find someone who wants her. The SPCA is wonderful but they are so overwhelmed with animals right now that they are waiving adoption fees right now trying to find homes for all the animals they already have!
I would go with what Jonathan Joseph Van Dam sent you as a reply. Plus according to the reply; Yes, they'll Euthanize an Animal Only if it Becomes the Last Resort.
it doesn't matter if you're the first in line or not jealous do it for free you just fill out the paperwork in the return the cat to the same property
If the bunny is a stray, he may need to be taken to the shelter responsible for the area where you live! Visit sspca.org/strays for more info!
The county has a program where they trap them and spay or neuter. Do you know about how old they are
Unless you drive over between 11-3, I don't think you will be able to get through. Check on your paperwork, there maybe an alternate phone number.
I've had no experience so therefore I feel that I cannot contribute to an answer to that but I've been told they do not kill dogs or cats
You can surrender your pet
That's super unfortunate sorry to hear about that but I definitely understand I had to surrender an animal several years back at a different SPCA, No cost just terribly sad. If you end up surrendering ask them if they can keep you updated also check in with friends and family before hopefully someone can take your pet to a good home.
I use Discovery Vet off of Northgate between W. El Camino and Garden Hwy. They are great vets and they are well priced. Good luck with your kitty!
I would call I have no idea sending prayers
There are other places that do it for free.! you just got to do your homework work and look for it.
We do offer end of life services. There is a $50 fee with an appointment. Visit sspca.org/euthanasia for more information
Animals adopted from animal shelters (including ours) are spayed and neutered before or at the time of adoption!
Google Sacramento county SPCA and it will give u all info
You would call animal control. City would be the one on front st. In sacramento. County is bradshaw animal shelter.
https://www.sspca.org/dogs
You can see prices at sspca.org/spayneuter
I really don't know I would give him a call
Hello Nai, You can get more information on our surrender policies at sspca.org/surrender
$110 for an adult dog over 7 months of age, $160 for puppies under 7 months of age. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, deworming, flea prevention and more! If you are 65 years of age or older, you can adopt a dog 5 years or older for free!
We have several baby bunnies up for adoption. Visit our website to see them: sspca.org
Yes, that is one of the reasons that they are there.
Take them to the spca
Yes, visit sspca.org/adopt to download an application to bring with you!
Seniors over 65 years of age can receive free core vaccinations for their pets during our regular clinic (Mon/Tues 11-3pm)
Follow this link⬇ https://www.sspca.org/spayneuter
We have a low cost Wellness Clinic, by appointment only on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please visit https://www.sspca.org/wellness for a list of services offered!
Mondays and Tuesdays 11am-3pm. (Closed major holidays)
You can always see available rabbits and small animals at https://www.sspca.org/small-animals
It costs nothing to drop off a animal or to check whether or not they have a chip.
Well this is what I do I just go down to the SPCA have everything in bags and I just walking in and let them know that this is a donation and they just take it and they asked me if I want to do a tax write-off which case I never do or give him a call
You go in and fill out the paperwork and they will answer any questions you have over the phone.
$10 at the Monday/Tuesday clinics! sspca.org/vaccinations
They're listed on their website. Hope this helps.
Look it up on their website
Please call the SSPCA for advice.
No, you can not
Yes
Unfortunately the wellness clinic at the Sac SPCA does not offer services that require urgent care or sedation. I would recommend trying Mercy Pet Hospital or Bruceville pet hospital for low cost vet care. Hope your fur baby is ok!
Now!!! Lol
To the main clinic. The very left building I believe. We took my childhood dog there to put him down. It was the main doors on the left building. The doors are also close to the parking lot
If you do decide to surrender make sure t a non-kill shelter I've never heard the name bully is that short for bulldog or pit-bull there are a few pit-bull rescues in the Sacramento area Google it they take in
Call after 11
I'd go on their website or make a call
You can call the SSPCA during normal business hours for a list of vaccine costs
Yes, we have a thrift store called Adoptable Goods! Downtown on E street! Donations can be dropped off at the shelter, or at the thrift store. https://www.sspca.org/thriftstore
They need to be properly weaned from their mother (min 8wks) and should be able to eat solid food. If you are unsure you call the SPCA or a local vet - most would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Whatever you do please ensure they are healthy and going to good homes 🤗
Take the dog in for a $25 visit and at least they will look at her and tell u what they think, go on spca sac website cuz u have to request an appointment first, wishing the pit bull my best.
This is for questions about the place, if you have serious questions you should call and speak to a Vet Tech. However, you should probably start with giving it a bath.
Csll before you go.
Your cat smells the urine from cat that was there before. Get carpet cleaned or replaced.
Call the spca right now, maybe there's atill a time limit on the rightful owner
This sounds like you may have to make a few phone calls. If the dog is TRULY hers, call the police because that is either A: an animal kidnapping situation B: Thievery or C: if it is her service dog, it can be endangermant
Take it to spca. It cost $50 to surrender.
The SPCA takes rabbits
They are free at the moment but not for long I believe call asap march 17 2018 6:02 pm
All you have to do is call the sspca and ask them about the discounted voucher u can get the cat fixed for free or for 20.00 dollars
U can call them and if you tell them u r disabled they will come and pick him up
Yes. There's companies that will help with anything needed.
You can start trapping them and taking them to the feral clinic to be fixed so it slows the population down! I have did this for one year since moving in and already we have not see any new cats and being fixed calms all the feral down!
Come to THE SSPCA.
Put it in a ziplock bag mae sure its all broken into powder if there pills and mix in a cup of dirt with it and throw it away Do not flush it down the toilet or put it in the sink it will contaminate the water
All animals should be vaccinated yearly, as a precaution against all viruses
Check out Sacramento SPCA online, the phone numbers are online they'll help you.
You need to call your local Animal Control. You can have the SSPCA pick up the pet from that shelter and brought to the SSPCA.
I know that the front Street animal shelter is a no kill shelter and i believe that this SPCA is also. They do have a surrender charge and if i remember right they will give you the animals reference number and you can go on there website and look to see if the dog is still there or if its been adopted. They have a very extensive process when they adopt the animals out.
Do you mean does the SPCA have a program to help if you are low on dog food? They may, try calling, an option on recording may tell you what you ask.
City animal control.
Hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday beginning at 11. But like Mr Olson mentioned, any vet can help you. Good luck with what I know must be a confused and homesick pup.
4-6 weeks
If you cant find anyone you know or trust to keep him take him to the spca
If it's not a feral cat you can just catch it put it on a box and take it to the SPCA or the pound I'm not sure which will take an animal
They are always happy for donations
I'm not sure of free either but I know spca and front street shelter both offer low cost shots and spay neuter.
I adopted a dog from the SSPCA in June that has the same issue. I have done it all. I have a baby gate in the hallway to keep him away from the front door. I have a camera that I can watch him from anywhere and talk into it. I have a sound to disfuse the barking. I tried a bark collar (shock), but after 2 weeks he figured out howling and whining don't set it off, so I bought an ultrasonic bark machine that only dogs hear, and it seems to work. I have him on Prozac and a sedative that makes him sleepy, but not knocked out completely. My pup goes to Grateful Dog Daycare f/t, which is ideally the best way to deal with separation anxiety. I am also trying CBD oil, but don't use it everyday, so not sure of the overall effects. There are no training classes available for separation anxiety. I would 1st get your vet to evaluate him to make sure he/she is not suffering from anything else. I tried a crate, but it only creates more anxiety for a dog with separation anxiety.
Call and talk to Sheila or Sherri they will direct you through the right process they both are very helpful young ladies.
The animals that appear on line are up for adoption, first come, first served basis. Some are being held back for behavioral evaluation, illness, and lost pet situations. Check often and daily because the lists change throughout the day.
Check their website. If there are they show up there but get adopted quickly. It's better to be there when they open and check often. Check all the shelters the same way.
Surrendering it may be the humane thing to do until you are in a better place to care for an animal and yourself. As hard as it may be for you now, the pup has no choice. God bless you.
If your dog needs temporary shelter, it will need to be boarded at a kennel. The SPCA and Bradshaw shelter et al are not in the business of dog sitting
It's best to go down to the shelters, as not all the cats are on their websites.
Yes, I agree with Tamara.
We did not leave we had a fire in our home and it would have been nice if you could have fed them for us and beat a nice kind neighbor but no instead you want to call dog CPS on us
You can at the SPCA on Florin Perkins.
Contact the nearest shelters and keep checking the websites several times a day. Post fliers with a picture in the area where you lost your dog. Good luck
Agree, go online for schedule or call. They are most helpful.
I don't know what do the discharge papers say
What does he/she loik like? Large, medium, color?
Yes
No transport available, but you can surrender Tuesday through Friday 11-530. I'd help but physically cannot drive.
I'd suggest calling Sacramento County Animal Control 368-7387. The have enforcement authority.
Besides having dogs and cats at the SPCA animal shelter, they also have little animals like rabbits, etc. So they might also spay those kinds of animals too.
