They do ring my door bell if im home
On a regular day, they have more deliveries than humanly possible. Therefore they have to drop and run, all day long. Anywhere to save a second, they even have a procedure to start the truck and put it in gear to save a second or two.
The BEST thing to do is sign up for UPS My Choice. With that you can give detailed instructions as to what to do with all your pkgs, or each individual one. For instance, if you're expecting a valuable/important pkg, you can have it redirected to one of their access points, like at a local Walgreens or any one of numerous places that are pick up locations
You can try to coordinate the best you can but the fact of the matter is that it comes down to local dispatchers and drivers. Unfortunately in the capital region area they simply do not care which is a serious issue. If you need special attention or instructions for your delivery use USPS, FedEx, DHL, or literally anyone else. The local centers here for UPS either lie, give false expectations, or simply do not care.
My son-in-law had stuff just dumped in front of the house when he does have a space to at least open the box and put something in so it would not be visible. It would also be small enough to put through the mail slot in this case and since it is chemo someone should be putting more attention on not having it stolen.
