Randall museum is probably just a shortened way of saying it's dedicated name of Josephine D. Randall Junior Museum. I've always referred to it as The Randall Museum as a kid growing up in the 80's, but that doesn't make it correct. Maybe it's just a slang term for the full name of the museum that has made its way up to the official website. San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department likes to rename lots of things. Google is happy to oblige. I think it is important to remember it's original very descriptive name dedicated to the woman who envisioned the establishment of this "Junior Museum" that first opened in 1937 on what is now CCSF. Refer to it by it's complete name, maybe people will re-adopt its full name: Josephine D. Randall Junior Museum

No, it was the Junior Museum when I was a kid in the 50s!

It was the Junior Museum from 1937 until 1951, when they opened its current location and rededicated it Josephine D. Randall Junior Museum to honor its founder. Not sure when it was shorted to just Randall Museum, but I imagine it was easier for kids to say than Josephine D. Randall Junior Museum while still keeping the founder's name.
