Took the tour up to the summit, tour guide was very friendly and shared a lot of good information.

Had an amazing time taking the Cog up this time. Thanks for staying open!! We got to mail out a couple post cards and bought some gifts in the gift shop after a couple hot chocolates.

Worth every penny. Very affordable and fun. $7 for four people! Very friendly staff!

As a long time member I was finally able to go to the top and visit. Intern was excellent and will be an asset to the MWO! Like all, we love Marty, hope you go many more years purr-E

Hit -100* just 2 days ago with wind chill. Takes just 10 seconds to get frostbite & 30 seconds to get severe frostbite. Feel a like breathing in ice cold water at that temp too. My 10 hats off to the people who live up top & take the recordings etc...
I would recommend reaching out to the Cog at https://www.thecog.com/contactus/. The Observatory (where this question was posted) operates independently from the Cog.
Actually, 6288ft - Wikipedia has it wrong. If you search for images of the summit sign, you'll see what I mean.
They have a Good website with current and historic weather information, try that source!
There is also a station there at the top. But, in the winter months it's inaccessible, so this helps educate the public year round.
I did see an elevator in the lobby of the museum however there are no exhibits on the second floor that I am aware of.

Marty Engstrom, also know as Marty on the Mountain. He worked for WMTW Channel 8 and not MWO as several people mistakenly think. And interestingly enough, he wasn't actually a meteorologist. WMTW did a three part piece on him a few years back; if you Google him you should still be able to find the clips and articles.
36 below, wind chill 91 below. 12/28/17. I happened to be in Bartlett, NH that week. Wildcat Mountain across from my Washington was closed that day due to wind chills of 50 below.
