I'm not sure sweetheart if your old enough, but they do need volunteers to help clean up and talk to the lonely ones. Good question! Find out!

You need to call shelter and speak with the staff in charge of the volunteers they'll sign you up to attend a volunteer orientation there you will get all the info to become a volunteer

They might have some things to do,but probably wont be with animals, cause that would be a liabilty
