I'm wondering why the trains blow their horns excessively and unnecessarily for long periods of time in the very early morning hours? It is obviously NOT normal "warning" horn blows. It is over the top ridiculous!

No its 2 long horn blows, 1 short, then another long horn blow. The law mandates that we do that to warn traffic so we don't hit anyone regardless if anyone is at the crossing or not.

The law mandates that trains blow 2 short and 1 long when approaching any crossing for safety of the public, and regardless of the hour.
