When calling Social security be prepared to be on hold for any time up to an hour more or less. I just put it on speaker phone put my feet up and read or play games. You may have an option to give a number for a call back without losing your call in line. Make sure to have your questions ready. Many things can be done on line when you have your account set up as an appointment may 1-3 months out. If you go to the office the wait may be 1 - 3 hours. I have done the wait routine both ways. Both work fine if you are patient. You could also call Medicare directly since you have Part A.

You probably won't be able to make an appointment for so close. They usually schedule 2 months out or more. Best bet is apply online by making an account on SSA.gov or walking in and waiting the 2 hours. After that, don't forget to get at least a Part D. If you don't, there'll be a penalty when you get one later. Please reach out if you need help with that, that's what I do.
