I built a wooden box for half my dad's ashes that were then put in the ground at Willamette Nat. Cemetery in Portland, OR. I now need to build a similar box for mom that will hold half her ashes. What is the maximum size that will fit next to dad?

For an in ground placement as long as an urn isn't larger than 8" x 8" x 10" there is no issue. Larger urns cam be accomodated but if it exceeds these dimensions it's advisable to inform the cemetery in advance.
