While loosing my beloved mother was painful. But knowing that I was acting according to her wishes made things a little easier. They handled the pickup of the remains from her apartment with dignity and care. Neptune handled the paperwork that was necessary from their side and kept me informed. I am doing the same for my children, because I never want them to go through making those decisions when they are in so much pain. My wife had purchased a policy for each of us a few years earlier and all fees had been paid in full. When my wife passed away from cancer, I made one call to the Hospice office we had been using. They notified Neptune and about 4 hours later two very nice young people came to pick her up. They were very kind and professional. They treated my wife with the utmost respect, taking care when they carried her to their stretcher. They allowed us a moment to say any final goodbyes and then draped her with a nice blanket before loading her into their van. Then the next day Kim from Neptune Society of Happy Valley, OR contacted me and arranged a time for me to meet with her. When I met with her she explained the process and we talked about the death certificate and options for purchasing memorial items. I was pleased at all the choices available now. Kim was very sympathetic to my feelings and I never felt rushed or pressured in anyway. I never felt like she was trying to upscale me at all. She was very knowledgeable in the entire process and offered suggestions when I needed them. I received my wife ashes and death certificate about 3 weeks later. The package we purchased included a small picture frame with a receptacle for some ashes. Kim had already place some ashes inside the frame when I picked it up. I would strongly advise anyone who is thinking about this purchase to do it as soon as possible. DON'T leave it for your family/loved ones to take care of after you pass. My parents made their own arrangements with Neptune several years ago. All I had to do when my mother passed away in Oregon (I live in CA), was to call the toll-free number and they gave me the number for the location that was nearest to my mom's. We only needed a couple of conversations to settle loose ends (where to send remains, what to do with personal effects, how many death certificates to request). VERY Easy! Anna was extremely thorough and helpful, answering some questions before I had a chance to ask! We handled some details by email and everything was concise, yet thorough. I would highly recommend the services provided from the Portland, Oregon location. They made a difficult time easy and seamless. Thank you!
