There are immigration checkpoints on all three major roads into the area. Heading Nortn to Alpine, Marathon and Marfa from Presidio, Terlingua and Persimmon Gap. There is a legal border crossing to Mexico in Presidio.
That map doesn't show all the checkpoints, eg., there's one just outside of big bend nat'l park, but it's not on the map.
It depends on which direction you come from. There are three checkpoints near Big Bend. Big bend ranch has great camping. And still close to everything.
Are you asking if there is a ranger station? It's a 22-mile trip from the main road to the ranger station.
