Tip: Buy your ticket ahead of time and arrive early. Showers and clean bathrooms are available. Bring a picnic, floats & your snorkel gear. Lots of picnic tables available (Some are in shaded areas.) Some areas are deep but neat because you can see the natural bottom. The water is clear & clean. This pool was beautiful. I would recommend it.

There is more to do at Balmorhea State Park than to just swim in the San Solomon Springs pool, but the pool...it's cool and blue and refreshing and huge. There are fish and turtles, and you can swim with them. Park your towels and stuff at a picnic table, and then get in the water. It's a family friendly place, plenty of space in the pool for the littles to stay in the shallow end, or for everyone to line up on the other end of the pool and jump off the diving board. Depths in this massive pool range from 3 feet to 25 feet. You can swim, snorkel or even scuba. It's an easy little trip from Ft. Stockton, or if you're coming up from Ft. Davis, you can enjoy one of the most stunning drives in Texas. Highly, highly recommend.

Beautiful natural bottom pool. Snorkeling was amazing! Diving boards, plenty of picnic tables. Cleanest restrooms! Outside area for pets, for they are not allowed in swimming area. So bring plenty of water for pets. The park gets super hot! It is West Texas! Camping is closed, but there are accommodations in the town of Balmorhea. Very nice Park Rangers pleased to answer questions. Fort Davis State park is close by as well. A must visit if you make it to Balmorhea State Park! Also a great day spot for Big Bend travelers!

Beautiful Desert Oasis! This is a spring fed pool and is 75 degrees year round The water is crystal clear! There are small fish and turtles you can observe and diving boards to enjoy, bring goggles or snuba gear. The kids loved it so much their first visit that we stopped back on our way home from our trip to Big Bend. Definitely worth the stop!

There are newly remodeled cabins within walking distance to the swimming pool area.
Not right by the pool,it has a section on its own.out side of the fence.
I know its way away from here but the leasure resort on the San Marcos river accepts kids and dogs. Dogs have to stau on the leash but there's areas that you can release your dogs.
Yes but they said its closed till 2019 for repair the swimming is so amazing
Water temp. Is 72-75°f year long!
They have a nice area away from the pool, where you grill.
Yes it's still in good condition !
The park is open for day use only-- 0800 to 1930hrs. They will close for over capacity issues, which usually on busy weekends.
Yes ,but you should register online first. They only allow so many people in a day.
It's open everyday and closed at 5pm on Sunday. But only a certain amount of people are allowed in at once time in time slots. So my friend made reservations for us for the time slot 330p -700pm. They will not let you in sooner, The morning group had to clear out while we had to wait across the street in or vehicles until they waved us in to go. You must RESERVE FIRST...PERIOD... NO EXCEPTIONS !
It should be, I was there 3 weeks ago
Yes, the pool is open.
Pool is closed until march 2019. Park is closed until march 2019. No camping or swimming until march 2019.
No, the pool is still closed for repairs and there is no expected reopening date yet.
Yes. For repairs.
Yes, not too far from the pool are bathrooms with showers.
The campground and lodging was still under construction as of mid-june. Their website will announce when that construction is completed.
It is limited, make a reservation.
Yes they are!
Reservations can be made on the state park website. The correct phone number is an Austin number.
I have no idea. You probably should call the park directly.
Only $7 a day.
Only pool is open...must make reservations ahead of time. Limited capacity.
With limited crowds, I would recommend reserving day passes in advance. We visited on July 14th and as we were checking in someone showed up without reservations and they were told to try after 3pm.
Closed.
I'm not sure, but I would like to know as well.
They are closed for the summer. Park Closure Alert… Balmorhea Park Closed March 4, 2020 – The entire park, including the pool, is closed. We hope to reopen in late summer. For more information, about the closure and the renovation projects, read our March 4, 2020 news release: Balmorhea State Park Closure Extended to Summer 2020. Check here for updates, or check our Twitter feed, and Facebook page, for more information .
Spring 2020 is what is posted on front Gate of park.
There could be snakes in the park, but highly unlikely. As for the pool, there are no snakes. The water is clear, and you can see all the way through.
When the park is open, yes. Park is currently closed for major repairs.
Not right now, plus the park is closed for the season until April I believe. they were talking about having the cabins and camping area done by the time they reopen. If you're looking for a place right now, fort Davis has some nice campsites, and it's not too far away
Only outside the fenced in area where the barbeque grills are
Just email at least 24 hours in advance and you will receive a refund
$7.00 per person. I recommend buying an annual pass for $70. There is no charge for anyone you would take into the park with your seasonal/annual pass.
At this time there is no camping since the renovations to the camping site and cabins have not been completed.
Not sure but each person will be charged unless there's one person in each car who has a seasonal pass.
It is better to buy the ticket before arriving posture there is a limit.
Not in the pool but you can at Balmorhea lake!
Reservations first and i believe its no big deal i seen a lady with a float for her child.
Yes it opened to the public but it's wiser to get your past online because the pool area fills up quickly. And yes again the charge is 7 bucks and it's worth every penny
Best to call and make reservations. If not they can close the park to drive ups. Especially on weekends
Yes
Not right now. Camping area is undergoing total rehab. No opening date has been announced.
Pay & Stay!
Look on the website it should tell you there.
Its closed for remodeling, no firm date to open yet. Pool reopened again yesterday.
Have you tried Google as it took me ten seconds to find it.
It depends, I would call them. If you cancel early enough, they probably are.
Pool and day use areas opened on March 1 earlier this year. Pool restrooms are open. Pool bath house is not available yet due to continued renovations to the waste water system.
Just call them. This is not monitored by the park service.
Should be
We were there this past weekend and the pool is open, but the cabins are still being renovated. Won't be open until summer time at the earliest
Within 30 mins - 1hr
The pool area is not pet friendly, anywhere inside the fenced pool, dogs are not allowed
It's a Texas State Park, you can stay 2 weeks. Don't know the rates.
The pool has been repaired but the park remaines closed for now.
Yes but the park is closed until further notice.
The park yes, pool not certain it was drained for system malfunction. But call and see if they fixed it yet.
The park is open, but the pool and cabins are still closed. It's going to take quite a while to get everything opened back up.
I can swim pretty well, thanks for asking! But not at Balmorhea State Park, because they are closed for repairs. Call them.
No, however the pool is closed for repairs.
Camping and cabins are closed due to renovation. I think you can grill but the park is day use only for several more months.
Yes you can scuba dive there. We were just there in November '17 & people were scuba diving then.
Office closes at 5pm, without a reservation it would be closed by now.
No Sewage problem that's been resolved but no camping grounds available or rooms, they will be out of service till 2019 That is what I've been told at the visitors Center
Campgrounds will be closed 9/11/17 through 4/30/18 and San Solomon Springs Courts will be closed 9/11/17 through 3/87 . The park will be open for swimming and day use throughout that time.
There is a small lake that is fed by the same spring called Balmorhea Lake. It's not in the state park, but fishing and boating is allowed there.
