Is the beach open for camping (primitive) now? As of 05/04/2019? Just want to make sure before we head for vacation!

And if there's no camping in the park you can camp on the beach almost anywhere excluding from the Jetties to the Horace Caldwell pier in Port Aransas but from the Horace Caldwell Pier 2 J P Luby you can camp just about anywhere and most places you will need a beach parking permit but they do have designated spots where you do not also make sure you check the tides we've had some really high tides lately you don't want to wake up in the water

Actually I would call. We went a couple weeks ago and there was no camping. Their website under park advisories says no. I would call if you want to be sure.

It's open all year long as long as you have a beach permit. $10 beach permit.
