No, its red rock with native American cave dwellings. Very pretty and cool to check out you can actually hike up and go inside the caves. For Sand dumes you want White Sands New Mexico. Its 3 or 4 hours away. We did both this summer white sands was ok my kids liked it I didnt think it was a big deal but if your in the area you can do it in a couple hours

No, there are not sand dunes at Bandelier, yet the Cliff Dwellings are absolutely astonishing and when I visited, there weren't nearly as many people as I thought there would be.
