An unplanned visit that made the day so much better. We were in the area and decided to ask around, it was 9:30 sharp, and we were told the fort was open for visitors. So we decided to go in and were the first visitors, there we met park ranger Dan and he was pure joy to have conversation with. He knows his history extremely well which added so much more immersion to the experience. Furthermore, he showed us around and had us load the 3 pounder in the middle. Overall it was a great experience.

Very nice visitors center with videos that tell the story of Fort Stanwix in the Colonial days. They have many displays of artifacts. The fort is outstanding and each section has placards explaining what you see. Everyone that works here is very knowledgeable of the fort. The gift shop is nice as well.

Informative and detailed reconstruction of a colonial fort. Lots of interpretive signs. A friendly guide dressed in colonial military garb. Right in the middle of Rome so it's easy to do, eat, and drink nearby. I learned about why this area was so strategic to the Oneida, the British, and the Americans. You should too! 👍

This was a nice reconstructed fort in a gorgeous historical part of town. The volunteer at the gate was very knowledgeable of not only the fort but the history of the area well past the dates pertinent to the fort. Grounds crews were visible actively maintaining the land and there is still some work being done in one of the back buildings. Also, due to covid, the interior of some of the buildings is not accessible. Hopefully that will be changing soon.

yes more difficult ...I would say plan on a good 2 or 3 hrs spent there..I have a 9 yo boy and 5 yo girl who both earned them there
Ft. Stanwix has no admission fee to get in.
I would contact Fort Stanwix directly. You can Google contact info or contact City of Rome & they should have that info.
