Trying to plan a backpacking/camping trip but not traditional camping. One where you just hike, find a spot and camp. It's this the type of place you could do that? Is it also like an off the beaten path kind of area. Looking for few people.

Yes. Come early to get a good spot. Spaces fill up fast

I haven't seen any bears around but people say there are. There are coyotes :-)

Yes it is. I use an app called Alltrails to find hikes that allow overnight camping and have had much success in that area.
