We drove through Kaniksu during a road trip in the summer, and it was astonishing. The area is super green and there is a lot of water, so the drive was extremely beautiful and tranquil.

This place is one of the most beautiful areas I’ve known. So many outdoor activities, it will never get old. Beautiful Mountain and breathtaking views.

Hiked Romans Nose and went to the upper lake. Absolutely beautiful! Definitely worth the drive. Use caution on this drive up, though. I would recommend not driving a car with low ground clearance like a sedan or coupe. We drove our toyota sienna and didn't scrape, but came close a few times. The last few miles are pot hole-filled. Also, watch for log trucks and equipment. Another note: bring bear spray or something to protect yourself in case of a bear encounter. We saw a black bear run across the road on our way up!

Questions & Answers

Trying to plan a backpacking/camping trip but not traditional camping. One where you just hike, find a spot and camp. It's this the type of place you could do that? Is it also like an off the beaten path kind of area. Looking for few people.
