The forest is disappearing and the wildlife is not the same as they have been. Less than a third of the wildlife in the forest have not been seen in many months. Logging in the forest leaves a lot of the trees on the ground that they have to be a bit older but they push them away so they can get the best ones for the money that you are never going to have for the sales of our land and our lives. It's a lot of dirt and gravel that are made for the logging companies. It's sad to see that it has to be a part of the system new life for all even if you don't want anything to do with it.

Easy access on paved roads. Makes it easy to visit at different times of the year…you can drive through the park and get some great views of the Forest. Makes for a nice place to visit on a day trip. You get to see lots of creatures and nature…

So far I've been to five of the mountaintops they're really really great place to go dirt biking and camping Porter Creek is amazing probably about a 45-minute hike to the waterfall but it's well worth it in the river looks awesome the campgrounds are so cool each campsite is on the river I think this is got to be my new favorite place to go dirt biking so many miles of riding in there

I've always enjoy camping in Capitol forest. I was surprised to see a majority of the trees around the campsite removed. Its always clean. I camped at Margaret at C2 for the first time. My 6 × 8 awning and room fits perfectly. Neighbors are far enough away to not disturb me. The hiking trails are still there just the shade from the sun was removed. Gonna be a hot one up there this year.

There are trails just for horses, the Margaret McKenney horse camp and trails are exclusively meant for horseback riding.
No cabins. Bring your own trailer, RV, tent or hammock.
It depends on fire danger. Check the 'target shooting' section of this page. https://www.dnr.wa.gov/Capitol
Yes you can but no roid buyers fire supposed to be in fire pits at all times
No but they have a shooting pit off of waddle creek road
No showers. Attended first come, first served campground at Margaret McKinney. The one hole outhouses are well stocked and cleaned very regularly.
Porter creek camp area, follow the signs. If you can't find the signs, ask the camp hosts.
Not for kayaks. There at no lakes in Capitol and any of the rivers are pretty overgrown and inaccessible. If you fly fish there's the Porter Creek Campground on the northwest side that can be accessed.
Trails are usually open April 1 thru October 1. Yes, Capital Forest reopened for phase 1. Don't forget your Discovery Pass.
It is closed until May. If you want to park or stay, they require a Discover Pass. This can be purchased for around $35 for an annual park pass (good for many WA state parks) for one year. It can cover up to two different vehicles, though only one at a time. It covers camping at the Riverbend camp ground as well. Please look up rules and reguarding this camp.
You know I have no idea if you can
Check local park forest website for information, or, aternatively, call a local business & ask a local.
I don't know the answer to that but they may have that information on the Grays Harbor County website.
Its not a park its a forest with lots of trees there are individual places to camp but not in capitol state forest it self per se they are off down mima rd and the only one I know of is Margaret McKinney campground and no they don't have any running water
Yes. Make sure you have a short leash for your dogs. There are a lot of people who ride their moterbikes through the trails.
Washington State Department of Natural Resources is the Department that administers the program.
All that is required is a discover pass, and it's good all year, a good spot to show up is the rock candy trail head.
Discover Pass, good to go
Yes in answer to your question the other post had been correct I'm a shooter and I go out to Capital all the time I have gone to Upper pit which is at Capitol Peak and there have actually been people camping right in the shooting range so yeah the Discover pass will cover everything and everybody else's answer here is all worries there are no worries out there enjoy the scenery
There are a lot of roads that start out gravel and start thinning out to more of an off-road adventure. You just have to drive up main lines and start taking the side roads to see what happens in my experience. Drove my jeep through some messes up there a few times.
Yes, military does need a discovery pass. Military do not get them free and there are no discounts on discovery passes. Other passes yes but not discovery.
Yes, there are designated trails for bikes, hiking, ATV/motorcycles, and horses.
