Yes, there is a shooting range less than a block away across the street. It used to be open all the tme but people complained about the constant shooting. Now it opens its gates at 9am and closes sometime in the evening. In actuality, it is a gravel pit turned range. It is outdoor. The no shooting signs are posted in atv areas and the campground.
Shooting is allowed at the gun Range (Triangle Pit) the road 3 blocks from Waddell creek camp ground, ONLY. Shooting anywhere in the Forest other than a clearly designated area by DNR is strictly prohibited. ALSO, the gun Range is unlocked at 9am and closed by the warden or other DNR employees at 6pm as there is now a gate.
There is other place to go shoot up there too you just need to know the area
To my knowledge you can only shoot in a national forest. State parks or state anything is out of the question, again, to my knowledge. That's why I always just go to a national forest, less people and more Terrain. I can't remember if I've done shooting here before, I normally go to greenwater, or the Olympic National Forest. Go to greenwater! It's pretty close and there's tons of good shooting.
There are a couple gravel pits. You have to be mindful of the laws and and signs.
I ride my Enduro bikes through the mountains and stuff and yes there are , finding the safe spot to shoot is the trick.
There are several shooting berms there that you can shoot at. The trick is locating them.
Yes they have a shooting berm at Capitol State Forest I couldn't tell you how to get to it but there is one I drove around for an hour and found it
