This lighthouse is part of the boat tour that leaves from Bar Harbor too. You'll be able to get a better view that way :)
You don't have to enter the naval station to get an excellent photo of the lighthouse. When I photograph the lighthouse, I do so by using my telephoto lens, while I'm standing on the rocks located about 300 feet back from the entrance to the naval station and just a few feet off the road. Enjoy!
