Thank you for your interest in the 1880 Train! They are not air conditioned, in the enclosed cars, each bench seat, has a window that you are able to open or close, and we have the open sided cars that do have a roof, but big open sided windows.
It is not.
The cars aren't air conditioned but the train never stops moving and the windows are very large. The wind kept me cool the whole ride.
We went the 1st part of June. It was really nice and cool. Outside temps were mid 80's. I overheat very easily due to severe burns and I was pretty comfortable. I was in the enclosed car.
Half the cars are open air and are not. The other half are enclosed and I ASSUME they aren't.

What are things to do in walking distance? We want to ride the train from Hill City to Keystone.
