Great place to camp close to Rushmore. Site directors were pleasant and checked in on everything and everyone daily. Only issue is poison ivy close to the campground and paths

Fun place to hike to Mt Rushmore along the creek and connecting trails. Sit back and watch the Ospreys fishing. Nice picnic spot.

Very reasonable price, Great place to stay , Feels like VVIP camp. We got camp site with No hookups close to the lake, Camp site #24. the best camp site right on the lake very private area. Gloria Camp manager was very helpful. if you are camping in this area I would suggest trying this site. 100 times better than KOA in the area.

A beautiful campground! Clean too. The camp host has a nice price on items needed for camping. A nice little beach along the lake.

Yes.
None of the sites have power except the camp host. Worth it though because this is a gorgeous campground.
Go to the website..the middle campsites r first come first serve. Best sites r 24-30. Right by the lake. Only thing is no refunds if weather is bad & u can't go.
Spent6 days there quiet little place, plenty of fire wood to purchase 10 miles to Hill City,2 miles to mt Rushmore,5 miles to needle needles hwy, also close to Crazy horse
This beautiful campground has many more walk up sites available than are shown online. Go there as early as possible for the best selection and talk to the host.
We made ours online last summer...we had a great time in the area and walking around the lake.
I am guessing he wants a map before he gets there. Sorry to say, the map of this place was lost when Recreation.Gov "upgraded" their site last year. The campgrounds are supposed to update maps but MANY, like this one, have not. If you want an RV slot, I like the very last one on the left down by the lake. Sorry, I cant remember the number. Call the hosts. Remember, this is a primitive site - a very nice one but primitive. It is very close to Mount Rushmore and very nice for the 13 bucks we paid with Access Pass. If you want bells, whistles, and WIFI go to the crowded RV Parks and throwdown the BIG$$$. https://www.campsitephotos.com/campground/sd/horsethief-lake-black-hills-national-forest/
I am not sure, I would look for the open season dates on the website.
You can bring a camper, we brought our 34' travel trailer. There are no hookups. We brought a generator that you can run from 6am to 10pm. Also, fill your fresh water tank before you arrive.
Yes they do. Recreation.gov
