Ride the sides where the grass is. Seen cars get through it no problem. Don't head for the sand. Go around it. There is also a path heading in from the other direction that is a little bumpy but less sandy.
It's pretty sandy in parts, I got through easily with an equinox, I think as long as your car isn't too low to the ground you should be fine
We made it in my BMW Z3. 🤠It was in August and very dry. It's very sandy so, use good judgement on what the weather has been. The biting bugs were worse than the road!
Usually my son can get through with a minivan last week there was one spot where he had to get pushed out. But not bad really. Worth it!
It's not bad at all. Any vehicle can easily make it back to the park unless there is a torrential downpour.
I saw plenty of cars that were not four wheel drive parked in the lot when I was there. It's a narrow dirt and gravel road for about 3 miles before the park. You will most likely be able to make it without 4 wheel drive as long as the weather is okay. It was raining when we left and the road turned into a river and I was definitely thankful for the all wheel drive then.
I drove back there in a Minivan (Chevy Uplander) and it wasn't too bad. I wouldn't recommend going back there after too much rain though. Alot of the road is sand and dirt not gravel. It's also very skinny and winding. If another car is coming you have to (hopefully) pull over. Make sure to bring bug spray. We were there for 10 minutes and had to leave because the Black Flies were sooooo bad. Even with spray on you still get bit and it hurts like hell. Aside from the drive and bugs it is one of the most beautiful beaches Lake Huron has to offer.
