We went to South Dakota last yr. Saw mt rushmore, badlanda, custer state pk etc. Want to focus on N. Dakota my husband will not drive more than 2-3 hrs. at a time.
You will not be that far from The Little Bighorn battlefield and that's not real far from Yellowstone and that will be close to Grand Teton National Park
Bismarc,is the closest city, you can also see mount rushmore,in south Dakota
The dakota are absolutely amazing I would fly into st paul Minnesota area and drive the 94 across North Dakota this is called the enchanted highway it's really cool. From there drop down into south Dakota for Mt Rushmore and the badlands. Enjoy
We included Custer State Park in South Dakota and Badlands National Park as part of our trip. Of the three places TRNP was our favorite, so much wildlife, followed by Custer.
Bismarck.. the Black Hills of South Dakota are beautiful and perhaps a 5-hour drive from Medora but worth it. A lovely Heritage Center in Bismarck as well.
I would fly into Bismark, it is a couple hr drive tho. I found the North loop beautiful. As well as the painted canyon
This is a good place to see the wild life. If you can drive through National Black Hill forest too, you can see more. Are you planning to go South Dakota too? There are many things to see there
