It depends on when you want to visit. If it's during the busy season, summer months lots of visitors in the area especially around the lake. Weather it's midweek or weekend it can be pretty busy here especially at the State Parks and Army Corp Parks. Based on personal experience over several years, I would Strongly Suggest/Recommend making reservations in advance, better selection of sites especially for accessibility purposes. Never "Assume" it won't be busy or there'll be plenty of sites. That has come back to bite me many times in the past. I've learned from it. 👍😀
Reservations are recommended especially for weekends and holidays.
Most Mo. State Parks are reservations, with very few first come/first sites. Some of the reserved are only one night or 2 before the people who reserved it, come. If you plan on being there awhile, best to reserve. Check out the web site of the park you plan on going to. It will have the reservation site on there. You cannot reserve thru the park. Even the basic sites are reservation at Table Rock.
The full service sites for RVs are more filled than the basic ones for drive up camping this weekend plus there are two campgrounds
You can get reservations. Depends on time of year if needed.
No reservations. Mondays and Tuesdays are not as busy.
Better if you do on a holiday weekend not nessary
