The Beacon Drive-in - All questions

Address: 255 John B White Sr Blvd #6047, Spartanburg, SC 29306, USA

Dale Munn | Mar 13, 2019

I agree...it is not the same as when Mr. John White Sr. was around. I believe the people who bought it thought that the "Legend" of the name would keep them floating just fine, but over the years, I can tell business has slacked off. I go there when only passing through, so not much of a biggie for me. If it's a better burger you are looking for then try Ike's. Something else that still rings a bell, is an older lady said when Waccamaw Pottery started opening up on Sundays that it would never make it...Now that the Beacon is open on Sunday, I question this one too.

Yes it kinda sucks now

Debra Martinez | Mar 13, 2019

The new owners don't take pride in it like John did. Sure do miss him.

That is a healthcode violation is the are behind the counter. Mr. White would be appalled.

Ate there two weeks ago. Customer service was horrible once you got past the gentleman taking orders. He's no JC but held his own. Had some out of towners with us and he was very patient.

J.R. Fair Sr | Mar 13, 2019

The owners are his kids and they are all about profit rather actual business. That's why the dynamics have changed

Its not the same as it was when Mr White was alive. The people who has it now doesnt seem to care about food and the legency of the Beacon. It meant so much to us teens growing up back in the 60s and 70s.... What a shame

The people making comments about John White would not be happy with new owners are mistaken. This place was and is still AMAZING. For those of us that went there back in the 70s can remember the saw dust scattered on the floors to soak up the grease. Take my advice order a chili cheese a plenty and take a bite of that and those yummy onion rings. If you are not in love with that immediately I’ll be quiet.

I've been going recently and have had no issues with it. Everything I order has been really good (chicken fingers, grilled chicken, cheeseburgers, and LOVE their stew). The staff has also never been rude to me, always talkative and helpful. Maybe it's just when I go, I don't know, but I've always enjoyed it when I'm there.
