Because Mr John B White died and left it in the hands of those who don't know what they are doing. When someone have been doing something for years and they leave things will never be the same.
I have dined at the Beacon a couple times a year for over 25 years. I noticed a change just after J B White passed. It's always been a greasy join. Seems to have a film of grease on the floor walls and furnishings, too. Lol, it's part of the nostalgia! As a clean freak, the grime is close to overwhelming. But, it's no worse than a fair, or Mc Donalds. IMO if a person lives their life not eating at the Beacon, they'll survive. But, with a lesser quality of life :) eat the sandwiches, a few bites of greasy onion rings, and take a tea to go!
First you have to learn how to spell so people can understand what you are saying , Cathy Norton. Learn how to put together a sentence please.
Beacon is same as it has been. Don't expect something different than what they are, or go somewhere else....they do what they do very well.
My daughter, son and I thought that the food and the service was GREAT!
The place is filthy and the onion rings are nothing like on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. They are a pile of grease and soggy breaded onions. Disgusting!!
Beacon has always been a funky place as gar ad aesthetics go. They have not spent much money on the infrastructure since all that is part of what the Beacon is. I have been going there since 1966 and I must say I have never gotten sick or bad service. However the looks of the place is daunting
I have been going to the Beacon Drive In for 40 years and yes I miss Mr. White, but I still enjoy eating there. It's always great food and Friendly service. It's also fast you can't get fast service like that at McDonald's.
Yes most of the food is fried, but that's no excuse for serving grease. Correct oil temps and proper breading make fried food less greasy.
Every persons experience is different.
