Ooommmggg you get more than enough food. I had livers, mac and cheese and fried okra. It was soooooo delicious and the tiger wood tea (2 cups) delicious. I tasted my cousin fish and it was just the way I like it. Definitely a plus for me. The service was awesome the guys were very friendly.

Wonderful experience. Delicious food piled high! They gave my little girl a token for a free scoop of ice cream, which was unexpected and sweet.. only thing is the lady at the ice cream counter didn't seem to like her job very much.. other I'd highly recommend!

Wow! This was a new experience for us. It’s almost like a cafeteria line. I have no idea how the employees keep up with all the orders. I had country ham sandwich, another in our group had a burger and one had the BBQ. When you get the onion rings and fries added it’s enough for 2-3 people. I was glad we seen plates in front of us because it’s a ton of food. The tea reminded me of my grandmothers. Great stop of your in the area!

Finally tried this landmark after years of passing through and never stopping. Food really good for price paid. It’s not a WOW factor or the best ever but it is a pretty solid menu. The atmosphere is what makes this place though. The nostalgia and history along with the staff there make this a must visit if you are in the area.Thank you Billy

I agree...it is not the same as when Mr. John White Sr. was around. I believe the people who bought it thought that the "Legend" of the name would keep them floating just fine, but over the years, I can tell business has slacked off. I go there when only passing through, so not much of a biggie for me. If it's a better burger you are looking for then try Ike's. Something else that still rings a bell, is an older lady said when Waccamaw Pottery started opening up on Sundays that it would never make it...Now that the Beacon is open on Sunday, I question this one too.
Because Mr John B White died and left it in the hands of those who don't know what they are doing. When someone have been doing something for years and they leave things will never be the same.
It's still not a bad place to have a meal and some great conversation. We take our german counterparts there and they love it... that's until it's time to "go".
Get the chicken stew. Better than any gumbo you'll ever half
My husband and i ate there and would gladly go back to get a platter aplenty!!!!!
We were just there Friday night, staff was wonderful to us!
John White owned it until 1998. Sam Maw and Steve McManus own it now I believe. They bought it from Mr White.
I do not know. If it has been discontinued, you could buy some peach cider and put it into traditional Beacon tea for a similiar taste.
The Beacon has been the same fantastic and classic restraunt it is from day one. The locals love the atmosphere and thus has been a staple in our town for many years. It's a slice of nostalgia.
It's just pork bbq. You can get it as a plate or just a sandwich
What does that matter?
I'd stay away from the sea food there
First of November but they would probably take it now.
I don't know for sure, but I would say yes. They have been doing it for years. When Mr. White was still alive, he gave all the money he made from this to feed the homeless.
Ive only been to the one in Spartanburg
Not sure about the Tea. Maybe seasonal
Yes, they do! I had one last week & it was as delicious as ever :)
