When you get off the freeway and head to the campground, once you're there, ahhh, quiet. Except for the train whistle which actually is kinda cool.
However people still hike up ti the dome it is breath taking once you reach the top along the trail there are creeks that are absolutly breath taking if you love to hike this is one hike to consider
Quiet enough to sleep at night. No noise from I-5 freeway. The campsite area is above and away from the freeway scene. The scenery in the park is pleasant.
Didn't notice the road noise, but heard from the train once, very gently.
I didn't hear any noise while hiking. It was super serene!
Personally I love the train's whistful horn, it shouldn't bother. Be sure and hike the river trail it's one of my favorites. Go to Aligator rock.
I haven't camped here but i do know the terrain would certainly divide the highway from the campground with hills. As for the train, i would sleep like a baby with that sound, very sentimental to that sound. But i wouldn't know, I've only hiked the trails many times while passing through. I have no recollection of ever feeling a highway was near by! Such beautiful area. There is even a trail along the tracks to a gorgeous waterfall! Train never passed us on the hike even though i hoped.
You don't hear the roadway. But you will hear the train whistles. Shouldn't keep you up by any means.
I never noticed any vehicle noise from the hiking trail.
Its reasonably quite once your in the camp ground area you don't hear the train or freeway its a really relaxing setting
