Can I camp near a trail with a tent and vehicle? Or do I need a permit?

You are not permitted to camp within sight of any trail. The rule is you must not be able to see your camp from the trail. Also you need a permit to camp outside of campground and permits are only given to self contained campers. Tent camping would probably not be approved. Tent camping is permitted no permit required in a National Forest. Allegheny National Forest has beautiful camping spots, first come first served. We love camping, have a wonderful time
