What kind of hiking? Day hiking you won't have a problem but if your going to leave your car there for a day or more you have to register it first.
If you keave your car longer than the day... You have to register at the office. They will tell you where to park.
There is tons of parking at caladonia. If you are going to hike over night i believe they allow it but you have to register at the guard house. Ther is very easy access to the AT right there.
