This is a great place to camp. The beach goes for miles. The path to the beach is rocky and steep so people with mobility issues might have a hard time getting to the beach from the campground. They might want to go to the day use area. The camp sites closest to the beach are pretty exposed and can get windy. You’ll need a canopy if you want any shade. They’re also relatively close together so you’ll feel right on top of your neighbors. The sites on the D loop (especially on the east side) are shaded and more spaced apart and are good if you want more privacy. Since it’s near low-lying areas, you will need bug spray! The staff and camp hosts have always been friendly when we’ve camped there. They kept the area clean and maintained.

Went here for one night on a long camping trip. The spaces are very close together with no privacy between them, that would be my only complaint. The people at the check in were very nice and warned me about vicious raccoons that had killed a small dog, and to keep an eye out for them. I never saw any. There is a long section of the beach that is off leash to dogs which was really nice for mine, and the restrooms were clean. Overall I would stop here for a night but the lack of privacy between campsites would bug me after a day.

Nice park and campground right on the coast. Can hear the ocean but it is not visible from the campground. Water spigots are available for drinking water throughout. Sites are small and tight, so don't expect a lot of space. Some of the sites will not accommodate trailers. Every site has a fire pit and picnic table. Bathrooms and showers are also available. Water for the showers is not very hot. Be prepared for wind and rain.

This state park offers Oceanside camping in 3 loops, as well as Yurts, some of which are pet friendly. Numerous RV sites with full hookups. Bathroom facilities also have showers. Check in is easy. Camp hosts are friendly and available. Superb location. Easily saw more than 10 eagles. The Cape Lookout trail itself is a fantastic 3 mile trail to the tip of the cape, and is great for whale watching during migration.

I would make your reservation now. They take them nine months in advance. You'll be able to listen to the ocean while you sleep. It's awesome!
Yes, there are multiple spigots with potable water throughout the campground in addition to the taps in the restrooms and showers.
There is no designated "tent pad" from what I saw. As long as the tents fit within the confines of your site I would say you're fine.
You do not need the email to check-in. If you booked through Reserve America, the reservation is still in your account and they'll be emailing you a preregistration link a week or two before your visit anyway. 👍
This is a beautiful place to camp .you can find hiking and you can walk to the beach..but finding a spot may be tricky...but you may get lucky👍🙂
Verizon is pretty good it gets a little spotty on the trails but over all good
There are outlets in the bathrooms, so I would imagine yurts. People are very respectful of leaving devices charging in the bathrooms though. The honor system, if you will. We have left devices charging many times and never had anything stolen.
Hi Jill. I agree with everyone. Very close walk especially if you are in a RV site. The layout of the campground is one of the better ones I have been too. My ultimate favorite is Silver Falls, especially during the holidays. Enjoy
I have been able to walk up and get a tent spot in this campground. However, there is no guarantee any spots will be available. AFAIK, no tent spots are reserved exclusively for walk ups.
In some, you have to check on the website which ones do. And there is a small pet fee.
Depends on the loop (there are 4 of them) and which site. Most in Loops C & D are at least 5-10 feet apart with trees/shrubs between them. On Loops A & B they are mostly open bwtween them. (A & B are the " waterfront" loops)
Google the reviews for the yurts and cabins and bring a bug bomb with u.....and raid....and a flamethrower
Go all the way to the back of the campground and find one on the Forrest side of the road
Call till find out.
Sites are crowded together but some have hedges etc. between them. The ocean was not visible, though it is audible, from the sites we were at, there was a small hill to climb over to get to the beach itself. It is a very short trek to the sand from the sites so the water is fairly accessible.
Can be found online or get one when you check in. Same website where you can register/reserve your camp spot.
$21. No electricity.
