Spent 4 hours in the ER waiting room before being seen Saturday Morning . Our health care system is 3rd world. My wife ended up getting 9 staples in her head . The doctor and nurses in the ER were great , The wait and wait staff were cold and seemed overwhelmed. There were only 4 people in the waiting room when we arrived and dozens when we left. Something needs to change and the director and providence as a whole should be ashamed ! also there website is unavailable at this time.

Dr. Elizabeth Prouty - I would highly suggest you immediately request another doctor if you visit the ER here and she walks through your door with her disgruntled frown. Awful to non-existent bedside manner and complete disregard to basic human feelings. This is a doctor that doesn't believe in admitting medications to patients that she has already profiled. I have a chronic stomach condition that causes extreme pain and nonstop vomiting and I have a written protocol letter for the ER for medications when this happens and she refused to even look at it. If she had, she would have seen the proper route of treatment for me. Instead I was discharged still in pain and vomiting, and continued to for two days after my visit. Steer clear and I would recommend that you get treated by someone other than this one, who seems to force her "beliefs" on patients who need real emergency help.

I used to love this place but it has gone downhill the last couple of years. Last couple of visits I had to fix my own blood pressure cuff because no one would come in after I called them. I had to ask for my own pain medication no one even asked me if I needed any. I asked for heated blankets by two different nurses and finally got them from the lady who does registration. I think the reason why it's gotten so bad here is because of all the mentally ill that come through the doors they're used to having to deal with them so I think it becomes like a stigma with everybody. I hope they can get better I really love this Hospital but for now I'm going to go little farther out to another one

From check-in to triage, to being seen, the Portland Providence ER team exemplified professionalism and knowledgeability. Our team of nurses and Doctor Buerk was efficient, straight-forward, and extremely helpful. Being in the middle of a city in distress and pandemic cannot be an easy feat for these medical workers, however, every process was streamlined and I could feel, as a patient, they were doing their best to provide the best care for each individual. Thank a health care worker!!!
