Dropped off some materials for the renovation recently. Crew is good at their job. Nice to see downtown Phoenix getting some renovations and upgrades. Been a mess for a long while.

I stayed here about a month ago while I was transitioning. Staying here was more like staying with a relative or family member than staying at a hotel, but with the bright side of quiet and to be able to spend time alone when you needed to without anyone bothering you. They do have a no-guests policy which was a little strange for me, but they seem to do this partly because of the area, and partly to make sure it's quiet. I paid to stay for a week and it was a nice stay. The rooms seem to vary, but mine was nice and right next to the office on the first floor at 103. The staff was fairly friendly, and I didn't have any issues and except for 1 night, got a good night's rest 6 of the 7 days that I stayed here. I wanted to give 5 stars but can only give 4, however. One of the two pop machines that are outside stopped working and took 2 dollars from me when I tried to get a drink. I was told on the second day that happened that the guy who refills the machines would refund it and get that back to me, but they never came by which they were supposed to do weekly. I'm sure that after a month they'd have come by. The front office was not able to pay the $2 back to me even when I checked out and returned my key, which I thought was really messed up. It isn't the $2 as much as the principle of it, and the fact that all they had to do was get the $2 from the Pepsi guy when he arrived to refund me for that before I checked out that week. Again, that's the one and only issue I had here. Everything else was really pleasant, and I enjoyed the old style design of the hotel. Oh, and during the summer time, the air conditioner for the rooms is fantastic. Unlike a lot of higher priced hotels, the AC gets cold fast and can be anywhere from 80 to 61 degrees based on what you set it to. There's a washer/dryer on site, and a few fast food places up the street. If you need wifi, you may have to use your phone, but there is a McDonalds around the corner that is walking distance with free wifi if you need it, too. Except for the refund thing, it was a pleasant stay and I'd stay here again if it were like it was the first time.

Lies. This is false advertising. First off, the place looks nothing like in the pictures shown above. It's not comfy or safe, and definitely not completely sanitary. The place is horrible with muggers, strong men who have wrong intentions. Let me tell you this, my mom just got there and went inside and a large male looked through the window to see if she was alone, and as soon as he saw my dad he left. The place looks nice on the outside, but as soon as you go in it's like dodgy, and i'm glad this is at least nonsmokers, but still extremely dangerous. The window on the bathroom is broken and won't close or open. The door only had a tiny lock on the doorknob and luckily I brought scissors with me, so I could close the other lock which was lockable but you need the right tools on hand which not everyone carries. Overall don't stay here if you have money or kids or you could be mugged or worse. Also the receptionist does not answer questions or give refunds, so their unreliable. Another thing is the water temp, it's hot enough to not be able to shower, but able to touch and you should bring a bucket so you can cool the water down but unfortunately so many people are mislead to believing this is a nice place and it's not. Overall good plumbing at least, and no holes so a good last resort if you think you can stay and not get killed.

As of 2 weeks ago, rooms are $50 a night. They do have downstairs rooms available occasionally, but I'm not sure the room is wheelchair accessible once inside.
