This Oregon historic sight was used in WWII, the history was preserved and shown here so we'll, I learned so much by coming here. I loved seeing the battle bunkers and weapons they used. The volunteers here are so friendly. We found parking easy but during busy seasons it could be a little challenging. I even saw some elk roaming in the distance while here.

We were greeted by a herd of elk on the way in! The museum did a very good job of telling the story that took place with photos, artifacts, prayers to read, and a movie. Walking around the grounds afterwards is the way to go so you better understand what you're looking at.

Went on a free admission day and hiked in the cool drizzle...still had a great time and a beautiful view of the bay. The little museum was interesting if not small with minimal displays.

Nice place for an outing, interesting historical artifacts and information. Lots of people with kids here today. A pleasant weather meant we were able to do the loop hike.

No, I've seen people bring their own small satellite dishes for service.
You can cast a fishing pole crab trap off the jetty, which can be hazardous in high surf conditions or go to social security Beach on the Columbia and do it there. The river is much calmer and safer, but you do have to cast it farther out.
Most sites yes. Some have more room then others depending on the size tent your going to use.
Yes

Yes. There are some gravel areas that may be difficult to navigate out in the park, but the visitors center is wheelchair accessible with a ramp.
Some of the historic batteries are closed to public access for safety due to the deterioration of the concrete structures and will not be "reopened". There are no tunnels within the park.
Hi, showers are only available after 10 am till 06:00 pm. One thing to mention is that they are free so you need no token or anything and you get hot water (single setting)
Not sure due to covid. Check their website.
The walk in museum and gift shop is closed right now due to covid restrictions but the disc golf course and trails are open for people to enjoy
You can get info online @ Oregon State parks or ReserveAmerica. Most yurts/cabins have not been available due to Covid 19.
Check the local fish and game but have seen others doing it
Veterans with discovery pass it's free unless you're camping.. then its discounted
I don't believe so. I didn't see anything in the welcome center about it. Your best bet is to call the park and ask them
As of July 2020, no same-day online reservations, no walk-ins. I was able to reserve sites in various Oregon state parks as late as the night before arrival without 30-day advance. Check their website or call for latest info.
A special use permit would need to be obtained from park management prior to staying past closing in any of the day use areas of the park.
You can drive to a certain point but then you have to hike in. It's not bad at all.
If you are a registered camper, your towed vehicle is not subject to the $7/night fee. The $ 5-day use fee is included in your camping fees. If your vehicle drives in separately from your motorhome, it is subject to the $7/night overnight fees, and that also covers the $5-day use fee.
I would call and ask if I was you
You can stay 14 consecutive nights in a regular campsite, yurt or cabin in a single campground, and may return after spending at least three nights out of the park (it can be another state park campground; in fact, we recommend you DO select another state park campground). The maximum time allowed within any campground is 14 nights within any 17-night period. The maximum stay for hiker/biker sites is 3 consecutive days in a 7 day period, per campground.
BThanks guys.I've just see. The road that takes you to area a, b, South jetty and the Columbus River. I had seen the sign that said battery Russell, but I that that was a memorial statue.Thank you Tom. . wow, I thought I was seeing it, looks like I've just scratched the beginning. I will.
Lots of bike trails and frisbee golf but no basketball
Month late... But , you are always supposed to buy Firewood local to your campsite, it keeps bugs from migrating , and supports those local smalltown wood suppliers and / or campgrounds
Kayak tour schedules change, but for most of this summer they have been running Thursday/Friday/Saturday.
I went clamming and got my limit in an hour on razors
It is $5 parking and the museum is free.
There is a beach entrance at the Peter iredale Shipwreck parking lot.
I'd call them.
There is a campground nearby. Check on it..
According to the park's website, the park is 4300 acres.
Yes,if the kiosk is closed go see the campground host
Yes
If you go to the oregon state park web page there are special passes for disabled vets and for military on leave.
There are no ATVs or dirt bikes allowed within the park or on the ocean beaches. Closest place would be Nicolai Mt. OHV Area east of Astoria.
Doesn't hurt to try and see if they have one 😁
It's nice and you can raft, paddle board, or canoe, I don't think they allow power boats. Lots of people fishing and there's a nice little path to hike around the lake. The rest of the park is pretty cool with a shipwreck and two forts/sets of bunkers. The camping is great and they have some nice cabins.
You can drive on the Peter Iresdale beach until dark. They dont want anyone staying and camping there because of the tides
You cannot do that at Fort Stevens Historical Area. However if you go south a little bit to Fort Stevens State Park campground there is an area in there that has beach access for vehicles. Head towards the Peter Iredale shipwreck and you'll run right into it.
I agree with Levi. I have been able to pop up tents on RV spots when its not busy and other times its been impossible. Call the campsite and give them the dates.
I dont work for the park. But it was probably a Clatsop County Sheriff. They patrol the park.
