Excellent complex with some super-friendly residents. Lived here a little over a year before moving into a house. Generally very quiet, incredibly so for a complex of this size. I love how there is a little stretch of woods just across the street, a park catty-corner, and access to a hiking/biking path to another park with a pond a block away. Kathy and her staff were easy to reach and understanding. Steve, the maintenance pro, is awesome. I asked to get the handle on a drawer fixed and went out for the day; when I arrived back, not only was the handle fixed, but the entire drawer was repainted. Very pleased on all counts. Great place to live that’s close to central McKinney but has much better access to green spaces than you could get downtown.

I really hate to leave a negative review, but I will state my honest opinion and experience with the Rustic of McKinney. My family and I lived at this complex for 2 years and did not have a good experience at all. Starting with the office staff. The manager Cathy was rude, short with responses in person, phone and on email after we moved in. The other ladies were a lot nicer. The apartments are not really well maintained. Noise was never and issue, walls seemed to be very well put together but that’s really the only positive I have to state aside from the nice area the complex is located. They are old buildings with a lot of issues. Our air conditioning had intermittent issues, that was not resolved until one week of our move out date. The walls were cracking in multiple areas. They use a matte finish paint that you can not clean, they recommend painting over it instead of actually cleaning the walls. The car port that we paid for each month had collapsed from a tree and it took over 2 month for them to repair it, leaving us without covered parking we were paying for. I would recommend finding a better place to live. Also from my experience and a neighbor that we keep in touch with, good luck getting a deposit back. We left our unit spotless and in the exact condition it was when we moved in and did not get our deposit back. They also managed to squeeze another $90 out of us in “cleaning fees”.
