We adopted from CAT in July 2022. A volunteer spoke with us as we said hi to different cats and gently suggested which cats might prefer a home without our rambunctious toddler. We found a great cat for our family that handles our toddler well. The facility was wonderful and clean. The cat room is ADA accessible if you need an elevator. We were able to pick up a few cat essentials and toys from the retail store. The adoption forms are all electronic, and doing it on a small smartphone wasn't fun, but they have a computer you can use if you need it. If you’re bringing a young child, the adoption application takes some time so plan accordingly. We appreciated the certificate for a free vet check-up (where accepted). A great experience.

I recently adopted Milo (Max was his shelter name) and I couldnt be happier, I got him as a friend for my older cat. He is still extremely shy but I know with the right love and care this little boy will gain some confidence. I had a great experience at the shelter everyone made me feel so welcome and the adoption process was quick, I was happy to find a shelter with kittens that would let me adopt and take him home in the same day, a lot of places I was looking at seemed like itd be a lengthy process. And cat adoption team gives you a free bag of kitten food and a certificate for a free vet exam!! whats not to love.

Never adopted from here before and had a great experience. The team was helpful and very nice. Facility was very clean and well maintained. Orientation was a little long and hard to okay attention. But not my first adoption so know what to do. Thanks Team Jazzy is looooving her new home!!!!

Not quite the average shelter! This is apparently the largest shelter* in the PNW and it is fantastic. We visited a couple times before finding our purrfect match and each time the shelter was impeccably clean and well there were lots of staff and volunteers working with the cats. We had to go through a couple steps to be allowed to adopt our boy so you can see they really try to find the best match for the cats. They provided good resources as well so we didn't feel like we were on our own. Highly recommend this place and couldn't have nicer things to say about the staff! *cat only shelter

Call them, CAT, and call Animal Control, wash county, or whatever county you are in. Be a pain in the arse till someone pays attention to you, and comes to help this cat. Starvation is an awful way to die for an animal.
Wayne what a rude answer
You have to go in to see which kitties they have available, or call them to ask them your specific question. Cat availability changes by the day.
You have to call and speak with someone to see if they have space and, if so, then they will talk to you, have you fill out paperwork, and make an appointment. It's best to try all other means of finding a home first, like neighbors, posting signs, and your veterinarian, as shelters are very stressful for cats.
Hi Eddie - CAT places primarily indoor-only pet cats. But you can find working/barn cat programs at these other local shelters: - Multnomah County Animal Services - https://multcopets.org/kitties-for-hire - Humane Society for Southwest Washington - https://southwesthumane.org/adopt/cats/ (see cats marked "Barn Cat") - Willamette Humane Society (https://whs4pets.org/adopt-a-pet/cats/adopt-a-barn-cat/ Good luck finding a couple of kitties that meet your needs and will appreciate having an outdoor life! Cat Adoption Team
They do take cats by appointment. If they are full, other rescues in Portland Metro may be able to help.
Lots of local rescues: Meow Village (personal favorite), Furry Friends, House of Dreams, Oregon Humane Society, Second Chance Companions, Cat Adoption Team. You can contact most via webpages or Facebook.
No, not that I know of. (a donation would be nice, but not required) . They are most concerned about the welfare of the cat, and ty for caring enough to bring him/her in. 😻 They are closed on Monday.
Hi John - The website shows all cats and kittens available for adoption, including some that may be located in foster care or offsite adoption centers. It may not list cats who are receiving vet care or have newly arrived and aren't available for adoption yet. Each individual profile explains where that specific kitty is located. CAT's site is updated regularly, but there is always some small delay in posting cats who are available and removing those who've been adopted. At this time of year we tend to have a dozen or so kittens at the shelter, along with twice as many or more adult cats. You can visit any time during our open hours if you're ready to come meet kitties and adopt. Thanks!
Good question There are solutions . If you and your sister are strongly considering getting a cat , I'd say keep your distance from the animal and take allergy meds. Of course , I'm no medical professional. Good luck
They accept most donated food. There are some types of prescription dry food they can only accept if unopened. You can call or email them to ask.
Hi there! Thanks for thinking of us! CAT can accept prescription cat food diets in unopened cans/bags only. If you have a partially used bag, you could reach out to PAW Team to see if perhaps they can take that? For non-prescription foods, we can accept open or unopened cans and bags. Drop-off at our donation bin in front of the shelter anytime, or stop by during our appt hours to leave it with our reception desk. Hope this info helps. And thank you again!
Ok thank you so much

They are; by appointment only right now.
Hi Ruth - Kitten Adoption fees range from $150-$200. All kitties adopted from CAT have all age-appropriate vaccines, receive deworming/flea treatment, are spayed/neutered, microchipped and tested for FeLV. Your adoption includes a free full-size bag of food, certificate for a free vet visit at many local clinics, plus post-adoption support from your adoption counselor. You can see all our adoption policies, fee information, and adoptable kittens and cats at catadoptionteam.org
I bet there is on their website
Cat Adoption Team would be a great place for you. Maybe call ahead or email them to let them know what you're looking for
Also there is an app called Next Door that allows you to send messages to people in your specific neighborhood. I have seen a lot of people find lost animals on that. Good luck.
They often foster out litters of kittens call them
You can call and talk to them on the helpline and see what they advise. They might be able to take her, or they might be able to advise you on a low cost place to take her for dental care, depending on your financial allowances. Either way, I would give them a call. If they do end up taking her in, you will have to do an appointment with them to drop her off and answer questions to help them find the best home for her.
Hi Karen, Cats with FeLV often have good quality lives for some time, so you're right to want to help him out. You might find this information helpful as you determine the best way forward: https://catadoptionteam.org/pdf/FeLV_Handout_One_Pager.pdf Thanks for giving this guy a chance!
Hi Bri - Volunteers 16 and older can assist at our Sherwood shelter. If you're interested, the first step is to attend one of our Volunteer Orientation sessions. We hold two each month. The next one coming up is Sunday, April 7. You can get more info about volunteer opportunities and how to attend the orientation by visiting our website. Hope to see you soon!
I think it would be a great place for him. They will give him medical care and they are great at finding good homes for their cats. I have adopted twice from them.
Check their website or call them directly, the fees vary but they include things like medical exams, spay/neuter micro chip etc.
Hi Mike, I'm sorry to hear that your mom needs to rehome her cat--that can be hard on one's heart. Please contact our shelter directly for support and suggestions. You can reach our admissions team at (503) 925-8903 x2.
They do... at least the animals we got from them, were spayed and neutered...
Hi Lorraine - So sorry to hear that you and your kitties are bouncing from place to place. Please give us a call and we can work with you to see whether CAT is the best option for your kitties and/or offer some advice for other options too. Our main line is (503) 925-8903. Please ask to speak with a member of our admissions team.
Take him to the vet
Yes you can it's lots of fun especially for the children if you have children to get to know the animals to play with them and see how they are with the child
Anytime they're open, but I found midweek perfect.
Try Cat Alliance Team Sanctuary (also in Sherwood, but a different place). Their phone reception isn't always the best, but you should be able to get through. By the way, you really should think about getting a cat in the first place if you can't follow up on always finding a place to move to that will take it. Cats are feeling and emotional animals and she will be heartbroken, especially at that age. 💔😿
Google search Cat Adoption Team Sherwood and it will come up. It's probably there.
At twelve they would need volunteer with an adult. If you go to our website click on volunteer and follow instruction on how to get started as a volunteer
There are always cats but kittens are seasonal. Check their website.
Probably best to ask CAT directly.
