They take bookings without actually having vehicles. Three people were waiting for vehicles and they had zero cars. It took waiting for twenty minutes and asking a ton of questions for them to actually admit that at the desk. After realizing I was going to miss my appointment because they had no cars (which they lie about at the counter by the way), they then told me I could not cancel because it was after the reservation time. Read that again… after the reservation, because we were waiting, for a car they did not have. This spot isn’t a real location, they have to still run everything through airport. Do yourself a favor and use Turo and some other booking app with an actual person vs a legacy company that is dying.

BEWARE OF ADDED TOLLS. In order to get the car to this location the road into town has a toll which you cannot pay in cash. It is added by the plate number (Thank you Florida) then Hertz adds what they call a convenience fee (convenient for them maybe but not for the customer). Beware of this practice by car rental companies and the state of Florida, it should be illegal.

Hertz is located inside Marrriott on the 3floor. The branch has some cars means if you book on short notice or change your booking you might have to wait a little. But no drama for sure. My advice call before you pick up the vehicle in case you are on time pressure. Other than that all three agents where professionals super nice and helpful with style. I made this long report to show the whole picture. This location is not like the once you find at the airport. The cars will be transferred from the airport washed and checked when they arrived at this fine location. That’s 👨💻 it. Thanks again Hertz Crew Tampa Downtown Crew 🌞👍👏 5 Star for sure you deserve!!!

Beware of renting from this location (and Hertz in general). Rented car 1/2/20. Desk Agent Isaiah brought car up to hotel exit and handed over keys to us in lobby. Immediately realized leaving hotel driveway gas tank had only 58 miles remaining. Called Marriott Waterside Hertz desk and was assured by Isaiah he would make a note of empty tank in the rental file so did not need to return car with full tank. No Hertz employee available when returning car at Tampa airport 1/5/20. After now spending several hours on phone and on line to rectify situation, have been advised best Hertz can do is give partial credit to gas charge. Their error = you pay! Addendum 1/21/20—giving credit where credit is due, Hertz notified me yesterday the entire fuel charge will be refunded.

You can return your rental at the airport. Keep in mind that your rate may change because you are returning your rental to a different location.
