We recently rented 3 Premium vehicles for a family trip in Florida. My husband is an Avis Preferred member and has been loyal to Avis for many years. This year's Florida rentals fell well below the expectation level that he has become accustomed to with Avis. We had pricing issues of the rentals upon check-in even though I had confirmation numbers for each rental that had been secured. Of the three vehicles rented only one met the expectations we have of Avis. With the other two, one had issues of continually showing low tire pressure. We were concerned as this vehicle was used by my son who had a baby on board. When my husband contacted Avis customer service to have them come and replace the tire we were told to call road side assistance. There would be a charge to us for this service. We chose to stop at service stations for air 3 times during the week. The third vehicle was FILTHY upon pickup. It also only had 3/4 of a tank of gas in it. It was obvious that it had not been cleaned before re-renting. We also discovered that the air conditioner would not work consistently. Being in Florida in August the air conditioner is a MUST! When my husband contacted customer service midweek to point out all of the issues with the vehicles he was told nothing could be done as any compensation. It appears that Avis has had to keep their vehicles longer than it has in the past and these older vehicles are causing issues with the rental quality. I hope this is only a short-term problem and Avis will return to the quality rentals to which we are accustomed.

Expect to wait at least 90 minutes to get your car. They oversold the rentals and they couldn't clean them up fast enough for what was going out. One of the seats was missing a headrest. They gave us a size smaller than we paid for. But after waiting such a long time, we were just happy to get out of there.

Had preselected a vehicle for our trip. Due to things beyond our control all our flights out here we're delayed by hours and us and other ended up arriving 2 hours late, about 4am. Looked at the app when we landed and it said we would have to go to the counter for help as no cars were available. We were helped by a gentleman that was all by himself and were explained that due to call ins and such our car was not available and the only car available was a Yukon. Thankfully they were able to honor our original price and after getting the kids seats in we were on our way. He was super helpful and cheerful for 4am!

Two stars because the two ladies that helped us were phenomenal and the cleanliness of the vehicle isn’t their fault. The first checked us into our rental the second was at the desk in the parking garage and helped to switch vehicles for us when the one we were assigned was found to be filthy. Unfortunately, the second vehicle was worse than this one. The Chrysler voyager we rented was dirty inside and out and was in need of an oil change. They even put the guarantee of cleanliness sticker on the rear view mirror. Reading other reviews this is the norm at this Avis. Worst of all the reservation was nonrefundable so I am stuck with this.

Sure as long as the Stars aligned properly in the Moon is in the right house and so forth otherwise they won't have a car or it won't be ready just like every other time you pick up at Avis.
Yes, you take a shuttle tram. Elevator to 4th floor to shuttle and on to car rentals. All rentals there. End of the line. They make one stop, I can't remember why we got off. We were laughing so hard.
Never had to do it that late but have picked up car at tpa at midnight, no problem

You do not have to be over 25 years old. My son ( 23 years old) was able to rent a car . Two things you need to be aware of. #1 There is a surcharge for under 25. My son paid an extra $20 on top of the regular fee. #2 Credit card is a MUST.
They have an enormous garage full of cars and to rental agencies under the same company umbrella they shouldn't have a shortage of anything.
Yes you can but it is probably more expensive picking it up at the airport due to added charges. Try to rent at a location away from the airport for better rates.

No you're better off renting a car off site of airport.
When using a debit card at Avis there will be a hold of $200 plus the estimated rental charges placed on your account. Options not available for SUV or premium rentals same for drivers under 25 yrs old. Use a credit card cost of the rental only.
Return process very quick, but I say at least 1/2 hr extra for return process and getting to airport terminal

Economy parking next to the rental place
Peter from the terminal there is port authority bus that takes you to Marine Terminal A and from there the Avis bus picks you up.
Do not use Avis - they really would lie to you about what they are offering.
