My lovely dining partners and I were greeted by Mrs. MH who was a caregiver for two adult residents at the Village Manor in the dining commons. Without hesitation or emphasizing quietly flaws with the service from this Senior Independent and Assisted Living quarters. MH proudly shared the high caliber of the interaction with the daily staff and the residents. I was immediately impressed with the caregiver’s detailed information on the other senior center assisted living programs and what was good and what was not so good. Village Manor received a high unsolicited rave reeview from this individual and her family. The monthly cost for renting the relative’s apartment was obviously. Our luncheon was fit for royalty. Arriving and seeing a huge ice sculpture shaved by the chef was an eye catcher but the offerings of food was mind boggling in delicious pleasure. Soups were Lobster Bisque with Creme Fraiche (which I loved), Wild Mushroom with Sage ( was overflowing with delicious mushrooms and flavor), and Cream of Tomato soup with Grilled Cheese croutons which I skipped but it looked good. WOW! Surrounding the ice sculpture was large shrimp with the choice of regular or spicy hot, horseradish cocktail sauce. I chose the spicy dip and it was oh so good! The main fair was Chicken Bruschetta served with Italian Arancini (Rice Balls) and tomato sauce. The desserts offered were Death By Chocolate cheese cake, Berry Trifle (my fav!), and Crème Brulee. This is common fare food and it was delicious. What made our visit a total delight was the sincere members of the administration and staff. Mia was our table server assisting in removing our used dishes and silverware. She has a delightful and caring personality. She went beyond her duties to make our visit an enjoyable one. Brian, the activities director, a serious Hollywood movie actor/theater director added his charm and as he put it “handsomeness” adding to our fun visit, Seriously you cannot argue that Brian is handsome but it wasn’t just his facial features but his good heart and unselfish interaction with everyone. Along with his sense of humor making sure that our dining experience ran smoothly and pleasantly. But with many of the residents joining our wonderful luncheon, Brian never changed his optimistic, bright and kind personality making everyone whether a visitor or a resident feel extra special. He is a treasure. Susan was our tour guide and marketing director. I have had the pleasure of creating floral designs as a craft project under Susan’s directions at our Howell Senior Center. Her wonderful personality simply made both the craft and visitation a wonderful experience. She was totally professional, knowledgeable and yet personable with her pride in working at the Village Manor. Chef John and Pastry Chef Dave created an exploratory menu for our culinary pleasure today. The final two positions I want to recognize are, first, Nick, the Executive Director, running this facility. He MUST be doing something right. I have never see such happy and grateful residences and employees under Nick’s responsibility. He is so open door. Easy to work with everyone in this facility to provide and excellent program and home for our Veterans and Senior Citizens. The final group I want to recognize is the Housekeeping staff. This facility is pristine. It is so clean in every corner and kept clean is a total recognition of a housekeeping staff that is aware of their immense responsibility to the health and safety of everyone at the Village Manor. I’ve been here before for a fund raising event celebrating the birth of Princess Kate’s and Prince William of the U.K. first child. I was impressed wit the delicious scones and fun making donations for a worthy cause. But returning today, I could truly feel that it just wasn’t a grand dining experience but it could easily be called home. Check out the Village Manor, it is highly recommended by any unsolicited families dealing with the care of the elder members of their beloved family.

Brought our father there for respite care after a hospital stay. He was released from the hospital 2 hours later than expected. Several members of the staff of Village Manor stayed hours past their scheduled quitting time to ensure a warm and gracious welcome. They saved him a plate from dinner since was going to be arriving after the dinner hour! That's what family does! Everyone has been patient and attentive since then. Thank you to them for all they have done that has helped us during a stressful time!! We are looking forward to when dad gets to become a resident there!

Recently I was fortunate enough to be able to stay at Village Manor for a few months, while looking for a home to purchase. I felt incredibly lucky to have been able to live in a home for independent living for seniors, as well as a home that provided assisted living....it gave me an insight into what it will be like when I decide to reside in a facility on a long-term basis. There is no doubt in my mind that I will choose to return to Village Manor at that time. The Manor is such a warm and caring place that I almost did not want to leave. The activities provided for the residents are abundant and engaging. There are excursions on occasion, and there are weekly trips to the local stores, as well as to doctor appointments, etc. The main floor has inviting spaces for residents to gather and talk together. There is also a comfortable room where they can watch TV together. The arts and crafts room always has something going on. There is a piano in the main lobby area, and there are frequent visitors that come and play the piano, sing, or otherwise entertain. The dining room is large, but welcoming. Residents sit at assigned tables so that they get to know the group that they are eating with. There always seems to be laughter and affability within that room, and the small white light strings just add to the ambiance. Speaking of the dining room...that brings up another benefit to living at Village Manor. The menu choices each day (and each meal) are wonderful, and the food is delicious. I still am missing those meals. The staff that care for and assist the residents are helpful and attentive. The building itself is kept clean and comfortable. I really cannot think of any negatives, and as I said before, when the time comes, this is definitely where I would like to live permanently

My mom has been there since April, 2020. They advertise a sous chef, but that has not been the case. The served food is often cold and flavorless. They do not have enough staff. The nursing staff that is there during the night is either attending to something or for whatever reason they take too long on a call. The front door that can be opened by pushing the handicapped button is broken, so the residents struggle to open the door while using their walker as there is not a staff member there to hold the door for them. The elevator is often out of service. My mom does love the office staff as well as some of the housekeepers and the medical staff, and she enjoys the activities that are held, but the rent warrants the improvements that are badly needed.
