My longtime friend dealing with Alzheimer’s appears to be adjusting quite nicely to the Medilodge facility in Howell Michigan. All of the employees I have dealt with have been so curious and helpful. Today was a day that I arranged to pick him up for a breakfast outing, and he was dressed and ready to go at the time that I needed to pick him up. So happy that he is staying at in MediLodge in Howell.

Patience is a virtue. People complaining about the nurses or aides need to understand they’re overworked and understaffed. I just spent the better part of the past 3 months there and I got to know a lot of the staff and a few of the residents pretty well. The nurses and CNAs take the time to help, and to make sure their patients are comfortable, even if it’s something as simple as plugging the phone charging cord back in. The therapists are dedicated to getting people back to their independence and while a lot of people might think they’re harsh, they’re just doing their jobs. They want the best for their patients. They became my temporary family while I was there. They didn’t yell or belittle me if I couldn’t do something. They encouraged me to always try my best. If it weren’t for them, I don’t know how I would’ve managed to finally get home. Jessica, Tiffanie, Tammy, Diana, Cindy and all the therapists are some if the most amazing people I’ve had the privilege of knowing. Along with Hailey, Cindy, Teri, Katy, Eric and all the nurses and CNAs. I’ll miss my MediLodge family but they’ve got a permanent place in my heart.
