Absolutely the best botanical garden/arboretum I have ever been to. I have been here many times over the years, during different seasons. It is always beautiful and has lots of plants blooming year round. It is a large property and takes at least 3 hours to visit all the different areas, including a headland where you can watch the waves crashing over the rocks. it is so popular, you now need to buy tickets online most of the year. It is on the north coast, so ironically, the coldest, foggiest weather is spring and summer. Fall and winter usually have best weather, between storms.

Beautiful gardens that are well maintained and easy to navigate. There’s also a great view of the ocean on the west side of the gardens. We came on a Sunday during a holiday weekend and tickets did sell out, so try to book ahead on the website

One of the better and well-maintained botanical gardens I've visited. I absolutely loved the ocean views as well - such a rarity, but a gem nonetheless. Signs were clear and perfectly positioned. I will certainly come back should I find myself back in Mendocino!

We dropped in right after the coldest spell winter so there wasn’t much in bloom. However the rhododendrons were incredible and it was a beautiful place to meander around. You could do a nice long hike to the ocean through the gardens if you want. It is 40 acres big so there’s plenty to see on wonderful little paths. We had already gone on a hike in the morning, next time we will just save our energy for this place! The tulip magnolia’s were also blooming - they were gorgeous and there was the biggest camellia tree I’ve ever seen - I didn’t know they could get that big! Oh and they had beautiful gates twined with branches separating certain areas. Very nice way to spend the day.

Yes it is. Ask for the map at front desk. South trail is easily accessible by chair . Getting someone to help will be ideal to. Also, they provide wheelchair. Call and confirm about availability
We've been taking our dogs there for years. Very dog friendly staff with dog treats and water bowls.
Yes, you can show up anytime during the 3 hours you will have to enjoy the gardens. Best to get there within 10 to 11 hour, to see as much as possible. We were there yesterday and walked four miles seeing the beautiful gardens and ocean views.
15 per person, or if you go on earth day it is only 1 dollar per person
Mostly outside, umbrella works wonders light Misty rain you can still enjoy it as they have a large outdoor tent set up next to indoor gift shop. You are walking paths in gardens enjoying the spectacular lights arranged.
Yes! Late perennials, winter heaths, early camellias, early magnolias, azaleas, early rhododendrons, grevilleas, and wild mushrooms.
The last two times I was there I saw several couples and individuals walking their dogs. It's a great place to do so. As stated before though, ensure you are prepared to clean up after them.
Yep, well behaved, controlled and on leash are. Pick up after them.
I think they do, but maybe not in inclimate weather, so I'd call and double check if it's rainy.

As others have stated there are plenty of options, some are almost dead flat.
Yes, but some trails are not, but we saw several people in wheelchairs out on the ocean point, just need a pusher.
No, coastal plants only. Beautiful garden and great views. Check out the garden website for more information. Enjoy your visit!
They have plants for sale at the botanical gardens.
