We visited in June 2022. We played in the sand for the afternoon and had a lovely time. The sand is clean and good for building in. There is a little creek that flows into the ocean as well. The walk from the parking area to the beach is very manageable.

I love the hike along the Ecological Staircase Trail to the Pygmy Forest and the history behind it. It's really beautiful. I was impressed with the new signage, very helpful!

Jug Handle State Natural Preserve m is a great place to spend the day relaxing or with family. The beach is spacious, scenic, and just a short walk from the parking lot, and there are some trails which follow the canyon up away from the beach with lush landscaping and a variety of ecosystems, plants, and trees.
