This is a positive review but I want to mention the negative first. This review is for the restaurant. My wife, mother and father ordered the Cheese Enchiladas. They had to be one of the worst food items I have ever tasted. They did not eat them. For the rest I had the tacos and they were great! Others in my party had the chicken fried steak, and the steak. All were well received and good. The blueberry cobbler was fantastic and is a large portion. Was able to share with several people. Atmosphere was nice and service was good.

Book a group stay. All rooms were great! Food was amazing at the hotel restaurant! Staff were courteous and prompt with all request. Would Absolutely stay here again!

Love the history and nostalgia Hotel Paisano offers. Stayed in James Dean's room Easter weekend, which was comfortable and preserved as was when he stayed there. Easter morning we woke to Easter candy on our door and even the other guests were talking about their Easter treats. Great stay all around.

The history and architecture of this hotel, especially the public spaces, are the highlights of the hotel. I would probably stay here again if in Marfa. I just can't say the rooms are above average and the amenities (towels, tp, etc) and some maintenance are perhaps below average. The lights in the bathroom were 6500 kelvin which translates to the world's most unflattering light and entirely overkill. The staff wasn't all that friendly. The restaurant was particularly frustrating. I checked for weeks prior to our arrival (forewarned by other reviewers to make reservations in advance) and it was posted as temporarily closed. Turns out it must have reopened in the week before our arrival. Instead of giving arriving guests the heads up to make reservations, the only communication from the hotel concerned masks for unvaccinated travelers. There was train noise at night, but we actually liked it.

Nice place but over priced and no free breakfast for an exorbitant price.
I did indeed see dogs inside the hotel
Of course, when would it not be ok?
Yes, they stayed there. There are lots of photos of James Dean, Rock Hudson, abd Elizabeth Taylor throughout the public spaces. Plus a room of memorabilia. The film was done near Marfa, not on the King ranch. The Ryan Ranch, west of marfa.
