Awesome place to checkout! We had a cabana during the day with a large group then a few of us stayed overnight in the 2 queen style tent. They provide pretty much everything in the tent you need. Power, Fans, cots, etc. Gave 4 stars due to price which is a little high. But overall it's a sweet place to do for the day and especially overnight as the daytime people leave at a set time leaving the place wide open for the camping groups.

Awesome place for families we didn’t camp but wish we had. Very clean, if you have children it’s worth waiting until you can reserve A1 or K1 next to the water slide it was a hit for the kids and the young adults loved it too! The kayak rental was worth it and so was the float but it can be dangerous as it’s slippery all of the adults fell on it. Highly suggest bringing a good inner tube or float

Ok, so for those of you that have read my reviews, you know they are very detailed. So to start off, the place is fairly easy to find. It is in the corner of a residential neighborhood. As a part of booking son's island, each member of your party has to have their own waiver form, and as far as I can tell, before you check in, you have to have everybody's form printed and you give it to the gate keeper. It seems like overkill to me, but whatever. When you get there, they will direct you to the guard shack (photo below). So you drive up there and they will allow you to drive your car to your cabana, and unload and then come back and park your car where they designate. Ok so this is a plus. Each day cabana does have about 11 seats not counting the picnic table. They have several Day Cabanas, but you need to be careful about which ones you book. The only ones where the river is actually in motion are A12 - A18. All of the rest that I could see are next to stagnate water which from my perspective is unacceptable. Ok to swim in I guess but stagnate water has mosquitos, a nasty smell, and can be fairly dirty. Fortunately I got A15, so we were good there. When it comes to price, they are seriously over priced for a family of 4. The rental was like 180.00 which lasted from 10:00 AM to 7:30PM that day. You get up to 8 people on that rental, so if you can split the money among several people, then maybe it would be worth it. In addition to that, they will nickel and dime you to death. You can rent kayaks, splash pads, and paddle boards for a price. As far as safety, you need to remember you are at a river, and the bottom is lined with rocks that are varying sizes so make sure you are wearing some sort of foot wear, and you are extremely careful when climbing in. I didnt see anywhere that you could get food and drinks, not even a vending machine, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Lastly, the tents are totally not worth it. You only get the tent from 7:30PM to 10:00 AM the next day (if I remember correctly) and if you do not have a day cabana reservation for the next day, you will have to leave the property. They require you to book the tent and the day cabana separately, and unless you book extremely early, it is going to be very difficult to get a tent and a day cabana for the next day, let alone tent, and day cabana for multiple days. In addition to that, the tents are extremely close together, and they are like 195.00 per night. I quickly cancelled my tent reservation when I found out you had to leave the property if you didnt have a day cabana reservation. If I remember correctly, my total was like 534.00 for a tent for 2 nights and 1 day cabana reservation. We decided to keep the day cabana reservation and got a hotel for 3 nights for the same amount of money the 2 tents would have cost. Dont get me wrong, this is a great place for a medium sized family gathering as long as you get the right spot and you share the cost, but just not for any type of overnight stay. I hope you enjoyed this review!

Recommend spending the day here and renting a day cabana with family/friends. Really neat spot with beautiful nature and lovely set cabanas. We rented spot # A-4, and I recommend that side of the island for people without kids and it also has more privacy. We booked an overnight tent but ended up driving home, our cousin stayed in our tent and said the beds were terrible. Mattress is thin, so I wouldn’t spend more than a night here. Note: Rentals are pricey so be ready for that. They were out of tube floats when we got there, around 11am, so don’t forget to bring your own!

From what I understand. You pay for a cabana or dock and it includes up to 8 people. For exact pricing you need to go to their website and look. It differs per day.
I paid $1,000.00 for 8 people for a whole weekend. But it was well worth the memories we made.
Food is not included but each cabana has a nice charcoal grill pit. Both times I've been there the concession stand was out of nearly everything. Pack smart! You are allocated one packing spot nowhere near your site. The cabanas vary but most have a hammock or two and the is a bar level table with plugs inside the hut. You can rent kayaks and other water stuff.
I saw people fishing there last summer when I was there.
Nope...unless you wanna sit next to them the whole time like a prison guard and nowhere to change them
8 when you rent the cabin. The rest at 25 per person
$ 145 for 8 people
The rate for Tent Camping ranges from $145 to $195.75 plus taxes depending if it is a weekday, weekend or holiday. We do not price per person.
Yes really nice out there !!!
Best to call. They are limiting people right now. Could be already booked up. Our daughter made her reservations in February before this started.
Yes but you'll need to book and see what dates and times are available first. You can view the available start dates on a home computer it will show up in green. They have timed day and evening cabana rentals aswell you'll need to book if interested.
You're in a tent. They have tents pretty close together. The tents are not see through. They also are not sound proof. I
Each cabana does have it's own bbq grill and picnic area. Not sure about the showers.
Yes and yes
They do not charge per person, the price depends on the day you want to rent a cabana. With the cabana you can bring up to 8 people. The website can give you an estimate price for the day you are interested in $70-$300 a day. It is cheaper on a weekday/non-holiday.
No zebra mussels here if yhat's what you're asking
You pay for the cabana and that covers I think 8ppl and one or two cars entry. If there are extra ppl then you pay for them separately. No more than two cars per cabana are permitted on the island.
You pay in high season like almost $280 and its a party of 8 additional pay $20 per person to a limit of 15 people only 2 cars permitted and by 6pm have to clean bcs you have to be out by 6:30pm
You rent by Cabana and its $200 a day. I am not sure what's the limit on how many people you can have in the Cabana
Yes, you can go one day, usually 145 per day
Prices differ depending on the day. You will have to go to their website. If you rent a cabana, it covers up to 8 people in the price.
Typically no. According to an employee, whom I asked this very same question to, it is our responsibility as the customer to keep track of the weather and plan accordingly. I say typically because there are always special instances where the management team make exceptions. Case by case of course.
At Sons Island we have a few water activities you can choose from. The I-float attaches to your private dock and you and jump and lay on it in the water the cost for that will be $45. Next we have Paddle boards for $49 and one and two seater kayaks $35,$45. We also have day wrist bands for $25 its 45 min increments of all the water crafts. If your interested in renting a day cabana just give us a call(877)577-7667 and we would be happy to assist you.
Hi Craig, you are actually able to pull up almost directly at your cabana to unload guest and items.
They have so many im sure if you booked it they have it we didn't have no problem with our booking
I think we called to book a cabana
Hi Lucy, Unfortunately for insurance reasons we cannot allow pets on property.
Yes. They allow you to drive and view from your vehicle. You are not allowed to park and walk around.
Prices are based off the cabana rental, and not per person. Check your their website for details: https://sonsisland.com/
We did see ants by where food got dropped
Contact at their online site and make a reservation they will let you know what's available. Hope this helped!
Kayaks yes. UTV or golf cart not really needed.
We paid 247 with taxes and all. It's up to 8 people and the cabana is very roomy. We got cabana from 1030 to 630 with 2 parking spaces

You'll have to look at the website to get that answer. I don't know if they charge different amounts for different days of the week.
So the cabana is a separate charge from the glamping? It's not all included together?..
Yes you can
No just saw cabanas
if you rent tent the cabana at night is included
Yes,but it's better to take your own
$160 per day, if you want to rent a Cabana, some times you might not get parking inside the island, so you have to park outside and it is $20 per day.
It's based off what night, season and day of the week. You'll have to check out the official site. The rental is broke up into day rental, evening rental and then camping. I believe camping included the evening rental. Here's a tip though, try to get a K cabana as they are over the water and bigger.
U would have to park it outside of the park it's $20 but u can always go in to drop off whatever you need to at the cabin & once u drop off your car outside of the island they will send someone to pick u up
Honestly its alot cheaper to find it on groupon than it is just to go right in and pay
Hi Kathryn! On average from $99 - $245 per day which includes entry for 8 people. Prices vary depending on the day and season, with weekdays during the fall or spring being the least expensive and holidays weekends in the summer being the most.
Yes they had bbq pits for each cabana
For a holiday $ 146.00
July
No unfortunately. They have limited parking. Two cars per cabana. You get a private cabana with a private dock. It accommodates 8 and has several power outlets and they also provide seating 2 eating tables and a bbq pit. You can also rent several different water toys. Free fishing also, no licence needed.
We were there and looked fine for mayor groups but you will have to take 2 tents for that many. You can even choose them in the web page
They charge by the cabanas and tent.
Son's island has cabanas, they have a ceiling fan in them, electricity, and running water
It really depends on how many cars, tents and cabanas you are wanting. With that amount you can all fit in one cabana but the glamping tents hold two cots, I think full or queen size. Just talk with them and I'm sure they can get you exactly what you are needing 😊
You can rent kayaks and big flat pads from them is fun to attach the float pad to the kayak and pull people behind you the person in the front will struggle though lol
And
We were 4 fam and we played like d to 130 per night including a campaign house and a palapa the truth is very well the lugr both in the day and in the night, on sab night they carry musical entertainment.
They will refund or maybe give a credit if it rains and they cancel. Not if you just decide not to go because it looks like rain, unfortunately.
When we rented it was roughly $250. Well worth it for a huge clean cabana.
I've taken my family there the last 2 years. We have never encountered or heard about snakes or aligators around. Go have fun, but always keep an eye out.
They have camping tents (they call it glamping-glamor camping) that you can stay in we didn't stay there when we went how ever I did see them set up and they looked like a nice set up... if it isn't your style to stay in tents then there are hotels in Seguin only a few miles away
You have to make a reservation
Im not sure! We went only for 1 day!!... So... We pay only for the cottage...
Would be like 400.00, if I remember correctly. Definitely pretty close to that.
Weekday's start at $145 plus tax & a weekend daytime rental starts at $195 plus tax.
Yes
Yeah you still need a license it is a public lake. They have a bunch of life vest.
You ca make it online or buy phone. A quick Google search of Son's Island should bring up the website.
Cabanas are for 8 people but 10 should fit okay. You will have to pay $20 per extra person. There is also a fee if you plan to park more than 2 cars.
No kayaks or paddleboards at night
They have snacks and drinks available but it is best to bring your own food
Yeah u can swim and u have to pay to enter son's island.
Prices vary depending on when you book. Glamping is about 150 to 180 a night. You are allowed up 6o 8 people and 20 for each person after that. Only allowed two cars per group at the island and I believe its 50 for each additional car. Like I said though, the exact amount will depend on when you book.
The tents are nice, they have beds off the ground, electricity. Not sure of the price
We took three kids there, ages 9, 5 + 22 month and had a great time
I just don't know where it would fit... cabanas are close together. I agree about the fans under the cabana they are great.
It would be cheaper to rent but they have no more cabanas to book on June 6th unless someone cancels but that's unlikely to happen.
After 8 people it is $20 a person. Cabanas rates vary. You could also check Groupon. But some of the ones that are available on Groupon are available for a reason- even if it's a small reason like a top rack of the bbq pit is missing or the water in that area is grassy or the hammock is located in the back of the cabana not near the water.. but you still get the amenities. Plan ahead!**
Everything i saw was outdoors... I believe there were ceiling fans in the cabanas, though
I'm am unsure about the current rates to rent the bungalow spaces for the weekend this summer. You may want to contact them directly. Its definately worth it!
No restrictions
145 so
You have to have a cabana to use the facilities. It's a max of 8 ppl per cabana and are all included in the cabana fee. 13 years and up need wristbands.
Groupon is awesome, we are going again with it. Totally worth it.
Sons Island is located on a river that is completely natural, uneven and definitely has some deep spots. However, there are very shallow areas and life jackets available. FYI: The water stays relatively cold all year round. Furthermore, Sons island is a blast and super relaxing. Enjoy yourself but be careful!
A mortgage payment x2. Probably like 1200$
For the "glamping" it's pretty expensive, about 150 to 180 a night I believe. They have rates posted on their site. Go to the FAQ portion and they have a rate calculator depending on the days you want to go.
Depends on the packages you want to include. Bracelets for every package. Cabana rentals or just camping. Lots of details needed.
Around $190 but the water is cold and gross now. Season is over. We went once and will never go back. They were rude, car limit is 2 and for more you have to park at a public boat launch so 1 person in our party was a shuttle. Also water macassins were bad. 1 wrapped around my ankle.
Includes children over the age of 2.
appreciate that, yeah looking to stay there one night then part of the day leave around 7:30 pm
