A hidden gem we found traveling. Right on Snake River. Beautiful views. Does have camping and picnic tables.

Well-maintained, quiet, beautiful park. Tons of groomed trails, lots of amazing rock formations, diverse wildlife and plant varieties, not to mention the most incredible views of the Snake River. Amenities include several docks, a boat ramp, fishing area, 18 hole disc golf course, an exploratory visitor center, several cabins, tent sites, and RV sites. Cabins have an air conditioner, mini fridge, table, chairs, bunk beds single over double) and a couch that that slides out into another double bed. RV sites have all hookups except sewer but there is a conveniently located dump station. Camp bathrooms are clean and the upper loop bathroom has showers. All camp sites have a fire pit and picnic bench and most have shade half the day from the surrounding trees. Camp sites are far enough apart and surrounded by juniper trees so there is enough privacy. Most of the year it is a bit breezy which is nice because it's a high desert climate. Overall, one of my most favorite state parks.

Nice place with a great disc golf course, probably the best course I've played and I've played quite a few. The bathrooms are too few and far between and just average with flush toilets. The campsites are kinda cool with large rocks for kids to play on, with good distance between sites. You definitely want the lower loop to stay away from highway noise. The showers are hot.

From the moment we arrived it was a very welcoming place. The woman taking tolls to get in (a small $7 fee) was super friendly and very helpful. And the visitors center there is full of interesting little books and toys to buy as well as a great peice of Oregon trail history for you to look at. But even if there wasn't all of that, the veiw was gorgeous and the place is full of campsites and trails that make for a fun outing for all ages.

There are trees for shade in most of the spots. I would bring shade for hanging by the river though🙂
Mostly no limit if park isn't full on reservations. We have a big open area for tents ask for canyon view
There are picnic tables in each campsite and some in the day use area. There is also covered tables at the visitor area
"Massacre Rocks was a well-known site on the Oregon Trail and California Trail during the mid-19th century. Immigrants gave the name Massacre Rocks to the trail's narrow passage through the rocks. The name stemmed from the fear of a possible ambush by Indians." https://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h2591.html
The visitors center was closed when we stayed at Massacre Rocks Park. And I didn't see any signs telling about kayak rentals.
Yes there are some electrical hookups. There is a camp host there as well to help you if you need it. They patrol the campground to keep things running smoothly.
I agree! The river is usually way to high and fast moving. Power boats only.. Go up river about 10 minutes and swim at American Falls marina beach to swim. 😎
There might be obsidian there, but it's a state park and most stuff like that is protected and not supposed to be removed from the park.
Yes rattlesnakes abound in the spring and summer. Just be careful where you step, no different then almost all of Southern Idaho. They are pretty skittish, usually don't want anything to do with people.
I've been going there every fall for years and only saw one small bull snake. It was on the disk golf course. But I'm sure they are there. Be alert.
I don't think it is on at the camp sites, but there is a location where you can get it. They don't turn it on until danger of freezing is over. Bathrooms and shower rooms are heated and open year round.
