if i could write a review and forego giving a star rating, i would, as i do not think what transpired last night was necessarily the fault of any one staff, nor can i speak to the quality of care, as i never actually saw the doctor. however i think it is worth relaying my experience. i brought my ~18 year old cat in for the ruptured tumor on the side of his face. overnight it went from fine (the swelling had gone down over the past week) to looking like an open wound. i arrived around midnight and proceeded to call their desk from my car, per the instructions in the parking lot. about 20 minutes later they called back and took my info, and said to go to the front door. i then waited another 10 minutes at the door as staff made eye contact with me and yet did not come to let me in, even when i rang the doorbell. finally a staff member brought me in, and then claimed she had forgotten she had called to get me checked in. at about 1:30AM a tech came to finally take his vitals. she said the doctor would be in "soon." at 2:30AM i went back out to the desk to ask for an estimate on the wait time. the staff member at the desk told me my cat was next and the doctor would be there "soon." by 3:15AM i was so mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted i decided to leave. patients were still filtering in at the front. the staff member at the front desk had the audacity to tell me something to the effect of "if you decide to come back we'll be here for you." i understand they operate like an ER and are triaging patients, that they are likely short-staffed, etc, but a little more transparency on wait time and a little less apathy from their staff would go a long way in not making it the most stressful, unpleasant, and emotionally draining vet experiencing i have ever had. i am only thankful for the fact that my cat's final moments won't be spent waiting in their exam room for hours.

I thought these people cared about animals. My dog has Cluster Seizures. I have brought him there twice over the last several months after he had 8 seizures in a 2 hour window. About a month ago they gave him a new medication to be given to him when his 1st seizure happens. This has to be given to him for 3 days in a row. I asked them to correct their mistake because the bottle didn't have enough for 3 days. They refused to correct their mistake unless I brought him back in to the emergency room so they could see him again and charge me $750+. They did this knowing my dog will run out of medication tonight due to their mistake. I will never return.

We drove 25 minutes to get here and waited another 20 before they reached out to see why we needed care. The dog we are fostering from Stray Rescue ingested a substantial of chocolate and we are EXTREMELY worried about her well being. They told us they will not treat Stray Rescue fosters and that we needed to drive another 30 minutes to have her looked at in Ofallon.

Without specifics, we got a quote for $2200-$3000 for MRI. You'd have to visit for details.
Our pooch had ACL & Meniscus surgery. It was about $2700 for the TPLA procedure. Shes still doing proscribed physical therapy (walks, no running). Her surgery was early this summer she's doing great! I can't say enough good things about VSS.
I am very pleased with their services. I've used them for all three of my dogs.
It depends on what needs to be done and which specialist is doing it. I would definitely call VSS they would be able to help you.
Yes. VSS accepts cash, checks, major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) as well as Care Credit.
Veterinary Specialty Services
Most likely. It's an emergency animal hospital open 23 hrs per day.
Veterinary Service's is your best bet
They will still answer or call you back.
For appointments and anything regarding our Specialty Departments, our Main line (636-227-9400) is open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. For emergency and urgent care needs, our Emergency line (636-227-6100) is open 24 hours.
Not sure the exact price but, when our kitten needed some extensive care for a heart defect (no surgical procedures), the staff were able to give us a quote that was very close to actual cost. I'd recommend calling them and asking about the procedure your pug may need. They may say the vet would need to evaluate your pug but there's a chance they could give you a close estimate. I'd also add, while they could be more expensive than other hospitals/clinics, having one of their specialty physicians conduct the procedure would be worth it in my opinion. They were very good with our kitten and I'd trust them with most everything. Hope this is somewhat helpful; sorry I did not have an estimate for you.
Idk who said 400...but 12 yrs ago when my mums cat had Pyometra it was over around 1,000.. lol at 400. That's BS.
I would probably just give the place a call and ask, as I'm sure it depends on the animal.
Each type of scan will have a different price depending on the body part, reason for scan etc. My dog just had one for elbow dysplasia and the scanned both front legs. The cost was about $650. Call them for information about what is needed for your pet and the price. They are wonderful people and happy to help.
Yes.give the dog a chance
All these processes seem about right.
Ditto, sorry but this is a question you will have to discuss with them. The great news is they are great to deal with.
I would go now. I lost a dog that was 6 years old like that. It could get expensive so just be aware. If u have had any tests done get those from ur vet so u dont have to have them repeated.
They did one in 2012 prior to my dogs cervical disc surgery
Call the experts they have all the right answers
You will have to call & speak with the staff
JULIE B...........your responses to more than one of these questions are just RUDE. If you think their question is ridiculous simply move past it and save your nastiness for someone who isn't suffering from lack of knowledge of the care their pet needs. Maybe these people are stressed and worried sick about their pet and that may make them sound a bit awkward. You are definitely NOT helping anyone.
Is it an emergency? I would definitely call them to find out! It's better than not doing anything... They have a really great staff that cares about animals. And it may not be one of their specialties but they might be able to help in some way.
Have they had any shots yet? It could be many things but even the healthy one can become sick too. I would rush them vss as soon as you can
I think any of them would know about DM. You can always call, too, or look up their website.
I was told same thing about my cat. As a second opinion I took her to the VSS and turns out didn't need amputation. I would suggest to get second opinion!
They may, but getting some one off their ass before your pet dies of old age is the real trick
