I had been to Childrens a few times in the past, but this last time was the worse. Patients are just a number. They don't care about the health of children. After being there for six hours, hungry, tired, and my child in pain, we asked to me discharged. The nurses are inept and little curious. The doctors are no better.

This place is very bad. I was there for 6 hours with my 4-year-old daughter and they did not attend to her. They told me that I had to wait 4 more hours. This hospital is very bad. I had a very bad experience.

Depends. They have a specialist for a condition i have, and that lets me go there my whole life. I don't know about other people though
They do have volunteer programs available but the age limit. I don't know but here is the website www. Children'sNational.org, hope this helps. Have a wonderful Day 😊
Temiko is correct. Global Services could be of some assistance, as they are a department of employees that help foreign families (usually with language barriers) get through the admission and medical process. They could certainly point you in the right direction.
Hi Judy: Thanks for your question. You can make a donation in a child's memory via check and mail it in or via our online portal. Visit https://childrensnational.org/visit/resources-for-families/family-services/volunteer/donations for those details. Thanks again. - Elizabeth @Children's National
Of course you can ask in the children's blog on their page there they can tell you more accurately
They accept ages from newborn to 21... depending on the departments
Hello Mariana: Yes, we have gift items in our Walgreens located on the first floor of the Costco Wholesale Atrium: https://childrensnational.org/choose-childrens/deciding-on-care/support-for-families/pharmacy-and-gift-shop. Thanks! - Elizabeth
Children's National has a gift closet for patients. Details about what type of items they accept and how to give can be found at https://childrensnational.org/giving/get-involved/volunteer#tab-5 The last day to give for the holidays is December 21st. You can also donate directly via Amazon at amzn.to/2z2INAj You have to be at least 15 to take part in the "I Can Help" Ambassador Program. You must be 18 to take part in the "Patient Care" volunteer program.
You would have to call the hospital so they can direct to which department he needs.
Buy $5 validation ticket from parking office outside ER... Go to vehicle and go to exit gate. .... Place your normal (one you got when you enter) ticket in exit machine, when price pops up place validation ticket in and Gate opens
Don't know. You will probably need to talk directly to the hospital administrator.
Not that I'm aware of, but it would be best to ask your doctor at least the day before your appointment.
National (DCA) is closer than Baltimore-Washington (BWI) but the former has to cross the District/downtown so its about the same time-wise during the day. At night, National would be faster travel to Children's
Yes a Dentist can show you how to floss. Always check with your dentist for any dental medical concerns or questions.
Yes they are
Yes
Since Children's is in DC, and not in MD, you will probably need a referral from the Primary physician stating that treatment at Children's is medically necessary before MD Medicaid will pay for it. My husband has MD Medicaid thru Aetna, and in our experience, they won't pay anything outside MD borders without a referral showing that the needed treatment isn't available in MD. Usually medical necessity isn't enough. You probably will have to show that whatever you need at Children's isn't available in MD. They're generally not going to accept billing from Children's if similar facilities are available to you in MD. Contact your primary physician to find out all these things. Of course, the ER at Children's will take an emergency with or without insurance, and I'm sure they will attempt to bill whatever insurance you provide. Be prepared for Aetna to reject the billing, though, without prior approval.
They have an emergency room.
This is a very nice gesture, but food allergies would be a significant concern. There are other things you can do like donations or volunteer. A really nice thing to do would be to donate blood or platelets, that would directly help save a life.
For recycling purposes yes.
10am to 8pm https://international.childrensnational.org/for-patients/your-first-visit/visiting-guidelines-and-hours?sc_lang=en
Yes there's two psychiatric units. Child psychiatric unit (CPU) and adolescent psychiatric unit (apu)
The max is $7, but anything over 3 hours you can purchase a $5 discount ticket that will take care of the parking for that day
Hi Gregory: Yes, we have steps and elevators at our Main Hospital facility. Thanks! - Elizabeth
Hi - Please view our comprehensive visiting guidelines and hours webpage: https://childrensnational.org/choose-childrens/visiting-staying/visiting-guidelines-and-hours. Thanks! - Elizabeth
Only for a specialist. One of the other physicians at the hospital can provide that referral though.
Hi Josefina. I hope we can help you find a solution for your child's care. You may want to visit our Global Services/international patients section on our website for more preliminary information: https://childrensnational.org/choose-childrens/deciding-on-care/international-patients. Thanks. - Elizabeth
Yes, cash is accepted. You are able to get your ticket validated at the cash office right next to the security office.
It would be either Washington or District of Columbia (or leave it blank) because there is no county for DC.
Depends on traffic can be anywhere from 40 to 1.30 hours
Well, nurses might be the ones to administer shots, but yes, vaccines and such are some of the services they offer.
Not there. Theres typically not a long wait. There is a pediatric urgent care in Greenbelt, MD, which urgent cares typically have shorter wait times than hospitals.
Yes
Typically 18, unless the individual is already a patient at Children's or has a pediatric disease. Otherwise 18 and older with medical and psychiatric emergencies might best be served at an adult emergency department. Washington Hospital Center is next door to Children's and also has an emergency department.
Yes, I have been told that the hospital will donate to non profit organizations. It has always been my dream to open a woman and children's group home and as of right now I am on the beginning stages. I have my location however I need monetary help to accomplish more
Ronald Regan International Airport
Right off of Michigan ave on the right. There will be a large parking sign. Can't miss it. You can get your parking ticket validated before you leave if you are bringing the patient in.
All answers are correct
Yes
Patients parents always can pay at the window (next to the ER entrance) and get a discounted $5 parking pass if you're there longer. Also if you donate blood they give you free parking. :)
