Typically 18, unless the individual is already a patient at Children's or has a pediatric disease. Otherwise 18 and older with medical and psychiatric emergencies might best be served at an adult emergency department. Washington Hospital Center is next door to Children's and also has an emergency department.

21 unless they've been receiving care there or another Pediatric institution for what we call a childhood illness i.e. Leukemia, Sickle Cell, Cardiac Illnesses.
