Very clean environment and nice friendly staff..sad for all the animals there. Was able to view all the animals and all their cages were cleaned and well maintained.

The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter does not perform any veterinary services for the public. We are an open admission shelter for citizens of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and York County, and are available 8a - 5p every day to reunite citizens with stray animals, and are available for consultation if you need to surrender your companion to us.
If you look for a pet hotel there should be several in the area about will make sure your pet is taken care of for as many days as needed. I have only ever needed to leave my cat at a pet hotel and it was $18 a day for services at the hotel of my choice
The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter is the open admission shelter for York Co, Poquoson, Hampton, and Newport News. We do take in owner surrender animals, but are also the legal holding facility for the stray animals in those areas. That means we are legally obligated to make space for the stray animals so that the owner can reunite with their companion. There are times when we do humane euthanasia for medical reasons, behavior reasons, and very seldom those very tough decisions for space. Please check out our website www.PeninsulaRegionalAnimalShelter.com and view the report with annual comparison of numbers. We are continuing to grow our Foster program providing recovery and training options, and we utilize the other amazing adoption partners in the area, and outside the area, to transfer animals to them. Please call 757-933-8900 and ask to speak with a supervisor if you have any questions or would like to know how you can help make a difference.
If you bring in the stray cat or dog and it isnt already spayed or neutered they will do so. Its part of there preparation to get the cat or dog on the adoption floor.
Elder Keith Ingram. I suggest your friend go in and take a look. Kittens come and go fast here. They also get some pretty cute ones as well. Good luck.
Also you may be able to start as a volunteer then become a paid employee
Go to website and adoptions page. A telephone call answer will probably come and check. On mon Nov 11 there were quite a few
They do get puppies but they dont come that often unless they are born in the facility. But go and take a look they might have some
No, you have to bring your surrendered pet to the shelter
I would call animal control if you are really concerned. Dogs can not be left outside without proper shelter or water with temperature over 85 or below 32 degrees.
Yes you can
We have donation bins in the adoption lobby and the reunite lobby
How big was it? I saw a dog that fits that description today in hampton area
I know you can volunteer and also request to meet them
Check their petango page for pics/bios!
There is a website, I honestly forgot the name of it. But you can view all the animals from the local shelter. That's how I found my second dog. Call the pet store they may know the name, that's how I found out about the website
Yes
Take a picture of the dog you want to adopt and show it to the leasing office and have them clear the dog before you adopt. If the mix looks like a pitbull they probably will classify the dog as a pit. FYI wait times are very long. Get there early like 10:45am
You can do meet ups once you decide you might want to adopt that dog.
Yes all ages
It's 50 dollars to adopt a dog above the age of 1 years old. I'm not sure if they have a program like that at the shelter but you can always go over there & ask if there is a dog that might fit your lifestyle.
The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter (PRAS) is an open admission shelter for citizens of York Co, Poquoson, Hampton, and Newport News. On our website www.peninsulaanimalshelter.com there are many great resources, including a list of pet friendly housing in the area. We do ask that you reach out to the shelter at 757-933-8900 Option #7 and speak to a team member that can answer any questions. PRAS is legally obligated to make space for stray animals found in the areas, so euthanasia is a possibility, we ask that you be patient while we add you to a wait list, and utilize the resources available on our website to rehome your animal in the meantime.
Call or visit the center
When I was there years ago kennel attendants were all volunteers.
The shelter retains medical records on the animals for 5 years. These are paper records only, so there is a research fee and would take 24-48 hours to get them to you. Please contact the shelter at 757-933-8900 Option #7.
Call and ask them directly. They will give you the information to apply to ADOPT.
Try to use the Animal Shelter as a last resort, if you can safely re-home him on your own. Otherwise, look here https://www.nnva.gov/2337/Owner-Surrenders
They most likely are.
Puppies are $100. You start by coming in to fill out an adoption survey, we do a meet and greet and go from there!
The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter is an open admission shelter for citizens of York Co, Poquoson, Hampton, and Newport News. Come into the shelter asap, fill out a lost dog report. We can walk you around to find your dog. Bring any proof like vet paperwork.
If you go to the. Shelters facebook it will have all the information you need. https://www.nnva.gov/2311/Peninsula-Regional-Animal-Shelter/
You can call the shelter to find out. But typically once you surrender they don't release adopter or outcome information
If you take in do contact shelter and do a found report at a minimum. Someone cud be looking for him. Nextdoor neighbor, lost and found pets on facebook
Yes! They can use newspapers anyday!
Im sorry but you have to be at least 16
When you go into the shelter you will fill out a adoption survey before you complete a meet and greet with the dog and a staff member. After the meet and greet you will be able to adopt that dog or cat. :)
Go to shelter and check. File lost dog report. Facebook lost and found pets too
Within business hours to at least look, yes. If you want individual time with an animal, don't come at the last minute- there's only a handful of employees/volunteers who are able to help with those visits and you need a min amount of time for it. This can also cause a wait time for individual visits, but they have electronic buzzers they hand out to let you know it's your turn.
If you're looking to turn them over call animal control.
You can catch the call shelter to come and get them
They do not do court appointed community service but you may volunteer there.
I dropped off a stray cat on Saturday march 17th. How long do you allow a family to pick up the cat? And can I come get the cat and get his shots at my veterinarian? I'm wanting to adopt him and I don't want him put down.
Not typically, but we just started posting information about the stray animals to our website. There is a link midway down on this page: https://nngov.com/2336/Lost-Found-Animals
