I dropped off a stray cat on Saturday march 17th. How long do you allow a family to pick up the cat? And can I come get the cat and get his shots at my veterinarian? I'm wanting to adopt him and I don't want him put down.
Yes you can
I dropped off a dog there last year that I had seen running across a restaurant parking lot. I thought he was gone, but when I opened my car door, he came out of nowhere, wagging his tail furiously and licking my hand. He climbed into the passenger seat my car and looked at me like, "Where are we going?" So I ended up taking him to PRAS. They accepted him and did not charge me anything. I hope his family came and got him. He was a black dog, very friendly and socialized.
Yes anyone that lives in Newport News, Hampton, York or Poquoson can bring in their animal or a stray animal that was found in one of those 4 cities. However it is an open admission shelter which means the animal maybe euthanized if the animal is sick, has behavior issues or if space is needed.
Yes you can. There is paperwork even if you found the dog and it is not yours. If you are surrendering the animals there is a chance they will be euthanized.
They dont do boarding
Dropping off a dog is free but I'm sure there's paperwork involved. If it's a family pet keep in mind there's a chance you won't be able to adopt again. That depends on the shelter. Contact the shelter for more info.
